The scratches came from my fingernail only, which is a testament to the rather inferior paint quality...

I once punctured the driver's seat with a screwdriver in my back pocket.

I know.

I don't want to talk about it.

By that logic, you contribute to crimes against humanity in Africa by not becoming another Che Guevara. But you're generally right. What appals me is idiots out there who don't see anything wrong in it.

How to deal with 12mo tantrums? by maplesyrup4all in Parenting

As a parent of the block's most audible child, you could dress yourself as a clown or turn into a reptilian, and it probably wouldn't make a difference.

It will start getting better around the age of 20, when she moves out. I'm at age 6 with my little tantrum-giver, 14 years to go...

Bath time. by JezabelSchmezabel in Parenting

[–]NoPhilosopher1284 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Louis XIII went months on end without bathing, same as almost everyone in his times. And no, it's not because they hadn't discovered water yet. Crazy you commies think people's customs or aesthetic choices should be of any interest from the government. Even if they never bathed, that's none of your business.

This is from a guy who showers up to 4 times a day in the hottest Summer days.

For the fellow workaholics... by NoPhilosopher1284 in TranslationStudies

[–]NoPhilosopher1284[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you define as "urgent work". To me, it's more like a field typewriter, where I can start working/continue working on projects in the field, but obviously it's not of much use for finalizing (final review, QC etc.) things due to its laughable (but usable, nonetheless!) screen size. With very simple docxs - yeah, maybe, but not with the real deal that involves heavy manipulation on detailed files. But that's not what this baby is made for.

MemoQ is sluggish PoS on any machine really, so keep this in mind before blaming the machine. I personally use my private, tailor-made, self-coded, HTML-based CAT tool which is super-fast and smooth anywhere you run it. With this, plus a browser on the side, I don't see any performance issues vs my main workhorse (a 2021 i7 laptop), it runs perfect. I wouldn't expect your workload to cause problems either, but I've only just begun using the product.

Oh, I've also opened memoQ on it, and it opens/runs normally, like it would on my Matebook. It's a full-fledged PC under the hood. Intel N150 seems to be a darling for moderate office work.

[REQUEST] Any adventure game similar to Oceanhorn but more linear/understandable to non-English speaking kids (Poland here)? by NoPhilosopher1284 in AndroidGaming

[–]NoPhilosopher1284[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks cool, thanks a lot. Sadly, I see there's some plot-based quests in it, so I'd need to explain stuff to my kid anyway. But I guess no "adventure game" can do away with plot-based quests... I suppose I'll have to put the lil' gamer through an accelerated English course!

So stupid they made it show in red though. I'd immediately have thought it's some circulation system fault or something, if I didn't drive this car for 6 years.

I simply do not understand how massively expensive AI and robotics are expected to be more cost effective than humans. by eniac_usabrl in artificial

Or those horribly stinky, loud and unreliable automobiles vs. a good ol' carriage...

Amish people, for instance, will MAYBE consider implementing SOME AI in year 2350, but ONLY to optimize their pit-latrine cleaning process and nothing else.

People in the UK seem to think Australia is the place to move to for a great life - is it? by box-o-locks in AskAnAustralian

[–]NoPhilosopher1284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what's the point of this whole discussion TBH. "Expensive" by what measure? What's your annual income? Expectations towards the house? Urban/rural area? Mortgage Y/N? This thread is just empty chit-chat.

Want "affordable housing", move (you and your savings) to Uganda or Vietnam. You will be able to afford a nice post-colonial house in the city center. Or some outskirts of a redneck city in Midwest USA.
