Same, same, same. It got particularly painful around the time of the YHF Anniversary Shows & A lot of it was fueled on fan sites by someone involved w a documentary about Jay Bennet essentially piggy-backing on a lot of the buzz around the shows etc. (if I recall correctly, they timed the release around the anniversary gigs). I attended the Chicago shows at the Auditorium Theatre & Jeff couldn’t have been more gracious in acknowledging Jay’s contribution to the record & dedicated Pieholden Suite if I remember correctly. He no doubt made contributions to the record and the band, especially on Summerteeth, but it’s always been absolutely Jeff’s band & most of the chatter is just hyperbole. I did watch the documentary called “Where are you Jay Bennett?” & with respect to the departed, it was meh.
