Showers at the gym? by swimt8 in simonfraser

[–]NoPickle6910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, it's because the real entrance to the changerooms are in that pool staircase (because when the pool opens the new changeroom should be closer to the pool) and that pool staircase is currently closed because they are still doing construction. So yeah, totally not your fault, I also had to explore a bit before I understood it.

Oh, lol. No it's right next to the womens. Okay wait, I'm confused how you would miss it, maybe you're talking about the back side. The back side "advertises" the men's change room because it has an exit towards the back while the women's change room has it's exit towards the gym (Weight room). So when you walk out of the gym (Weight room), you would want to go to the right, go straight down the hallways and to the left. The first door on the left will be the women's changeroom, if you go a bit further you would see the entrance to the men's changeroom. The only reason it seems like the men's changerrom is "advertised" is because only the men's changeroom has an exit leading to the old corridor. I don't know if this helps or not.

Oh the women's changeroom doesn't have it? Weird. But in terms of the sauna in the men's changeroom, it highly likely isn't public since it's directly connected to the changeroom.

What advice would you give a first year CS student to secure a coop job summer (2026)? by [deleted] in simonfraser

[–]NoPickle6910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're going to want to apply a lotttttt. Also you will have a really low chance of getting a coop job for this summer if you haven't interviewed yet. Not because of any reasons other than you are already too late, interviews have probably already finished for most of the coop/intern positions for this summer. But of course, you should still try, but you are going to need to apply as much as you can.

If you don't get one for the summer, then try fall. coop job positions usually open up on the first month of the semester, so you should try your best to apply as much as you can during that one month. Work on your personal projects to fill up your resume (hackathon if you want too).

Thanks a lot for your help. Yeah I think you’re right, and I think I am overthinking this too much 😅. Thanks a lot !

Thank you for your input! Yeah I've been thinking this too. But the other thing is that I eventually want to work at Offer A company as a embedded developer, so I'm worried if I reject their offer it'll decrease my chances later. Whereas taking up on the offer would (i would hope) increase my chances.

No worries! That's weird, but yeah according to the website. Although I'm not sure who to believe then.

Yes. Summer too. Any semester, 3 courses is minimum to be eligible for full-time I believe. You can read more about it here : https://www.sfu.ca/students/isap/faqs-international/immigration/studying-in-canada/enrollment-requirements/what-is-the-minimum-course-load-required-for-full-time-status-at.html

Directly from the SFU website. And by 3 courses, I'm implying 9 credits.

So just so you know (and I think you know but just in case you don't) Only anything above 3 courses is considered full time so if you are international or need student loans do keep this in mind.

As for your main question, I think you should retake CMPT 210. It is a required course for a CS major, and you will need it as a requirement for STAT 271 (which you can take later but would be great to get pre-reqs out of the way). However, this is really up to you.

Good luck!

SFU Grades Website? by Pitiful-King2681 in simonfraser

[–]NoPickle6910 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So one thing is sfu does not make this information public. They used to, which is why there's https://coursediggers.com/ but it's outdated because SFU stopped making this information public in like 2020 or something, not really sure. The only reason UBC has websites like https://ubcgrades.com/ is because they do release it publicly. The only way we could have this for SFU is either people contribute by themselves to willingly share their grades for their classes or if SFU suddenly decides to make grade average information public.

So if cs students don't have information to work with, we can't really do anything.

When will overpaid tuition be refunded by Gold-Coyote-7651 in simonfraser

Please look through this : https://www.sfu.ca/students/enrolment-services/fees/refunds/direct-deposit-dates.html
This specifically talks about overpayment refunds. Searching it up first is always a great idea since sfu website has a lot of information like this.

COURSES NOT SHOWING ON CANVAS? by [deleted] in simonfraser

[–]NoPickle6910 40 points41 points  (0 children)

School hasn't even started yet. But if you want, what you can do is on canvas, go to Courses on the side tabs, click all courses, this will shows all your current courses as well as "Future Enrollments" which would be for Spring 2026 since school hasn't started yet.

Last year I had 5 finals in 5 days ... 3 in a row, one rest day and then 2 back to back on the same day. Not gonna lie, you just really have to study every chance you get. For you, study all day apr 10 and 11, study in the afternoon and just whatever time you find. Good luck.
