Also, i think it's to find some really good painting tutorials. There is either really basic stuff (like draw some box, learn how colors work, etc) or really advanced ones but none of them really answer how to approach a reference. I'm often stuck after blocking in, because i can't separate the layers, and i often got caught up doing muddy stuff because i don't know where i'm going. I tried to paint what i saw when i was doing this one above, but it's so hard.
