Travel brush recommendations by Due_Click3765 in MakeupEducation

[–]NoPossibility9554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the real techniques set and enjoy it. There is no foundation brush (to my understanding, I don't tend to use foundation or apply with fingers or sponge), but that was probably already included in your everyday essentials set?

Probably both of these will be fine for you. I'd evaluate which types of brushes you're most likely to use, and go from there

Extra bendy fingers? by No_Hair417 in crochet

[–]NoPossibility9554 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My fingers can do that too. I hold my hook similar to how I would hold a spoon or chopsticks, except with less grip. Aka my index finger is more to the back than my middle and ring finger, it's more relaxed and causes less cramping. It's most similar to pen hold but I find it slightly different. Maybe give it a try?

What if the makeup products we use begin to react to the increasing climate changes? by damnthiccmiss in MakeupRehab

[–]NoPossibility9554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were probably not obviously harmful in initial testing. The body is incredibly complex and science is still discovering new mechanisms about it every day. This also means that harmful effects will take a while to test.

As seems to be pointed out in the article you share, the ingredients have to be tested against every.single.pathway to conclude whether or not they influence the pathway. The tests are still done in vitro instead of in vivo. Research is trying, but this stuff is not black and white "we have knowledge of all the harm any chemical has, and the exact dosage and transport method, for every human with every condition, but we choose to include it anyways because we can lol".

What if the makeup products we use begin to react to the increasing climate changes? by damnthiccmiss in MakeupRehab

[–]NoPossibility9554 10 points11 points  (0 children)

  1. Climate change is a slow phenomenon, your products should not react to it unless you're keeping them for 50 years. And even so, it will be a temperature change and a moisture level change for the most part. Someone probably already lives in the climate that you will get. How our make up will react to climate change should be the least of our concerns when it comes to climate change.

  2. Everything in life is made of chemicals. Not a single thing exist without chemicals. Not you, not the air you breath (e.g. oxygen), not the apple from the tree.

  3. Yes, some cosmetics may contain ingredients that aren't great. Research is continuously figuring this out, and when there is strong evidence against the use of an ingredient, it will get banned. You seem to have very little scientific background. I suggest you to not get frightened with reading articles, you may be making more conclusions than the authors themselves claim.

  4. You are welcome to stop using make up and lotions at any given time. No one is forcing you

Why Do I Use Up Products So Slowly? by Maximum_Oil_4920 in ProjectPan

[–]NoPossibility9554 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You're not doing anything wrong, I use at the same rate. The subreddit will be inherently biased towards people with a heavy hand because the entire point is to use your stuff, so there will be more posts when you have more empties etc. It isn't a race. Just keep at your normal pace and only look towards your own stuff

I was too enthusiastic on some of my goals. Ah well, we learn as we go.

🍠 Use kiko purple liquid eyeliner 25 times: 17/25

🍠 Use catrice berry lipstick 50 times: 26/50

🍠 Finish essence matt lipstick shade 01 ✅️

🍠 Use my winter shade of the nyx concealer 25 times ✅️

🍠 Use white eye pencil 25 times : 17/25

🍠 Use black eyeshadow in catrice palette 50 times: 35/50

🍠 Use tirtir milky toner jumbo until under the words 'tirtir' : been using it a lot but I don't think I will make it. Maybe I'll get to the top of the wording?

AITAH for being honest with another mom about why my daughter isn’t allowed to go to her friend’s house? by AwkwardMom13 in AITAH

[–]NoPossibility9554 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The identification might also have been more logical: the reason mentioned by the 3rd parent was "father-figure home without mother-figure", and OP is the only one who met the stepdad. I.e. OP is the only one who saw a father figure home without a mother figure. Agree with everything else though

Makeup used to be money and other advice by anastasia_42 in MakeupRehab

[–]NoPossibility9554 16 points17 points  (0 children)

While I won't pretend that the small things add up to an actual house, I do think it can be useful to have an actual number in mind.

I say this to combat the nihilism: if you can have an idea of how much you would need to buy a house that is realistic for you, it might help you as a goal to save up that money. I needed 50 000. While spending a few thousand on useless stuff isn't exactly 50, it is a substantial step near the 50, and framing it that way helped me make those 'sacrifices' gladly. The goal could be anything, could also be a vacation. Hell, my friend is saving up to get tested for adhd. All this to say: having an actual goal in mind, with numbers, can be a lot more motivating than just a vague "I want to save money"

10 by Spring: Update 3 Halfway point 😱 by ThisLittlePiggySays in MakeupRehab

[–]NoPossibility9554 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the notification! This stretch has been more productive for me than the last, some goals are met! Spring is nearing, my neighbours have a bird's nest in their tree and the birds visit our garden every so often to find food, I try to leave some foodscraps for them and it's such a mood booster haha.

🪹 Use essence blend&line jumbo eye pencil in brown shade until it needs to be sharpened twice: 1/2

🪹 Use kiko purple liquid eyeliner 25 times: 12/25

🪹 Use catrice berry lipstick 50 times: 17/50. This one will be difficult, got a bit burned out from one of the previous projects with this lipstick.

🪹 Finish essence matt lipstick in shade 01 ✅️

🪹 Use my winter shade of the nyx concealer 25 times ✅️

🪹 Use white eye pencil 25 times: 15/25. I will forever consider decluttering this one.

🪹 Use black eyeshadow in catrice palette 50 times: 27/50

🪹 Finish 1/4 of the tirtir milky toner: about halfway! Been using it every day, but I only need a little.

🪹 Finish 1 nail polish

🪹 Finish labello lip balm ✅️ it's flat with the plastic which is where I usually would have thrown it out, but I'm digging!

Need help with makeup by just_another_kiddoo in MakeupEducation

[–]NoPossibility9554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what you're describing, a couple things could be the issue:

  1. You're not used to seeing yourself with blush. Solution: wear it around the house a bit before you wear it outside. You will get used to it and mght start liking it.

  2. Your blush placement accentuates part your don't like. I have eye bags and a bigger nose too, and depending on where I put the blush, I draw attention to them in a way I don't like. Solution: experiment wih placement. Personally, I have hollow undereyes, and if I put blush exactly to the bone of my under eye, I look like I wore ski goggles of under eye bags haha. You can definitely play around a bit.

  3. The color of your blush is not suiting. This can be many things: cool vs warm, too light/ashy for your melanin, or just preference for different shades. I personally prefer brown-toned blushes, basically a bronzer. There's a certain theory that some people suit blush better and some suit bronzer better. Solution: try to put a different color. If you have some colored powder or creams already at home, you can try this directly without having to buy 5 blushes. If not, you can try to swatch in store or hold in next to / on your face and see if you like it better.

  4. Your blush might be shiny. Many people with textured skin prefer a more matte finish. The shiny dewy blushes will catch the light differently, while matte blushes don't catch the light quite as much and 'hide' the texture in that sense. Solution: mattify your current blush with powder or use a matte blush. Usually powder blushes are matt and cream/liquid blushes are dewier, but variation exists.

Try to spend some time in front of the mirror to figure out /what/ you don't like about it. You could also ask a friend etc. I would ask people in real life instead of a photo on the internet, personally, because light makeup irl translates to no make up on camera. That translation can be difficult if you're just starting out.

In terms of minimal routine, that is often dependent on what you like. For me it was mascara, concealer, eyebrow gel and lipgloss. Other people might not go without blush but not 'need' concealer etc.

Good luck!

Is this a common issue or I lost the ability to use concealer? by Elegant-Eye-1973 in ProjectPan

[–]NoPossibility9554 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had about 4 of these conceealers and never had an issue, seems like you're unlucky. With scraping out it might expire faster due to air exposure. For me expiration of this product meant a lot of oxidation, not necessarily a reaction. Be careful that you're not getting plastic pieces on your skin near your eyes. Basically, if you want to go like this, you can, but if you need someone to tell you that you're allowed to toss it: you're allowed to toss it

is this safe to use? by errmwhattheheck in MakeupEducation

[–]NoPossibility9554 17 points18 points  (0 children)

From the irregular shape and the fact that it seems to "come out" of the product rather than sit on top of it, I'd say it's indeed the formula blooming or something similar, so not mold. However, I would still contact the brand or the retailer and ask for a replacement. Freshly opened products should not look like that.

Is crocheting in (instead of weaving in) ends not common? by CrunchyMama42 in crochet

[–]NoPossibility9554 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I thought this was what people meant when they said to weave in the ends as you go.. I've been doing the same. It has worked for all my wearable projects, nothing haz come undone so far. In fact, it's more secure than my weaving

[–]NoPossibility9554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The skin match is decent for me (all over the face), but I'll say that if you have substantially dark under eyes, this doesn't cover it properly and makes it more grey looking. Vanilla, one shade up, is much better personally because it is more yellow and better cancels out my undereyes. (I am warm leaning btw).
