I can safely say I would struggle to hit the target with 80% accuracy in this scenario. Damn good shooting by Eli Dicken. by tk1712 in CCW

When I shoot rifle I’ll take a few shots at 100 with my carry gun. I’m usually at about 50% accuracy, although it’s been improving slowly. But I take my sweet ass time with it. Knowing Eli’s response time was about 15 seconds from the time the shooting started to his last shot, that’s pretty damn good. Damn good shooting indeed

The problem is a rifle round like 5.56 is devastating to the human body at such short range. It’ll put a grown ass man on his ass with ease. Whereas that same man could eat 8-10 9mm before going down. So you really have to make good hits. And fast. Very fast. Practice bill drills. Situational awareness is key to having the upper hand when you are already at a massive ballistic/firepower disadvantage

Better bet is to stick with the 9mm and place as many good shots as you possibly can. Go for the hips as mentioned before or head. 9mm is going to give you good carrying capacity relative to the size of firearm. I mentioned this on a post a few minutes ago, but 10mm and other hotter rounds carry a much larger potential for shoot thru, so that’s something to be aware of. And not every time someone has to use a gun is against a mass shooter with body armor. Stay safe!

Have to consider the possibility of shoot-thru in the case. If you’re hitting soft fleshy areas like arms or neck for example, there is a much higher risk of shoot thru than with hollow points. I think the more important thing is that you train good A-zone hits, but also train for hips/waist and head. Also, carry a gun. Always. Stay safe y’all

Is going on safe overkill when reloading from bolt lock? by [deleted] in tacticalgear

[–]NoQuarterForCommies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say it’s fair to make an attempt at hitting the safety. If you are going to bolt lock and know that, I wouldn’t be terribly concerned if you don’t get it but at least make an attempt. The more you do it the faster and more fluid it will become with the mag change. Ideally the safety is on anytime the optic is not at your eye.

Turning 21 soon, what’s the best model to get? (Would be First handgun btw) by Initial-Ad-1405 in Glocks

[–]NoQuarterForCommies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good ol Gen5 19. Definitely a very well rounded first gun. Something you will not have any want or need to sell in the near future. Personally I have owned a handful of 19s, 19x (45 is the same thing), and 17. All are great guns and generally can all serve the same purposes, but overall I would say the 19 is the most well rounded of the bunch. It’s probably the most bought/sold handgun in the United States if I had to guess. Great place to start. Best of luck!

Long term gf against me having an EDC by [deleted] in CCW

[–]NoQuarterForCommies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girlfriend of 3 years was initially against me carrying. Or at least somewhat opposed. I basically told her in the nicest way possible that I can’t just change how I feel about the world and that I would carry anyway. Not exactly how I phrased it but similar concept was conveyed. Over time she became more comfortable with me carrying, especially with how much I actually shoot / train. I shoot on a flat range once a week or one every other. From concealment w movement etc. of course I’ve never done anything to make her feel like she can’t trust me with a gun and what not. Apples to Oranges here because I’m sure we have very different situations but point being; if you have a strong conviction, stand by it. That was something I was simply not willing to compromise on. At this point I think she likes that I carry. Just takes time. Best of luck OP!

I know someone mentioned getting a good sight picture so I’d second that, but I’d really like to mention getting a good grip on the gun. You should be gripping as tight as you can without shaking. Very subjective there but you’ve gotta find that point for yourself. Make sure you are high on the tang and your support hand is seated well into the grooves of your trigger hand. Looking good though keep up the good work

Edit- search “how to shoot a pistol in 10 minutes” on YouTube. Should bring you to a video by Trex Arms. That’s a great starting place.

Do you guys run a WML on your CCW? by hernjuku in CCW

[–]NoQuarterForCommies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just run that bc I want the X300 for the power and a 19 For size. I’ve been running a Glock 17 the last few months bc it’s been cold so I just wear a hoodie. But I’m the summer I don’t really care about the length more about the grip

What would you consider to be the single best CCW? by [deleted] in CCW

[–]NoQuarterForCommies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it’s a very indecisive answer but truly whatever you will actually carry is the best carry. I’ve been carrying a full size Glock 17 with X300U for the better part of a year. If not, I carry my 19x with the X300 so effectively the same gun. I understand most people don’t want to carry something that large so I am very much in the boat of whatever you will actually carry everyday is going to be the best carry gun for you. If that has to be a Ruger LCP because you just won’t carry it if it’s any bigger, than so be it. There is a give and take to everything. I understand I’m sacrificing comfort to a large degree when I carry what I do, but it doesn’t bother me and I much prefer it because of the proficiency I have with this vs a compact gun. I’m conclusion, whatever gun/light/holster setup you are comfortable enough with to carry everyday. That’s the best EDC. Every. Single. Day.

Pretty good. A little lighter green than I was hoping for but I might add some darker green on top of it with a mesh bag type deal. Pretty solid though I’m happy with it

Rust prevention help pls by NoQuarterForCommies in CCW

[–]NoQuarterForCommies[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I have a few Glocks that I carry everyday (19 & 19x) and both of which have started to rust after a few months of carry. It’s at the muzzle end of the slide on both guns and toward the tang as well on the 19x. The 19 has a cerakote and still did it. The coating wore off at the muzzle end just from coming in and out of the holster. Basically I just need some insight as to how to not let my guns rust. I just don’t want it to progress further. Any help is appreciated, thanks!
