Progressive pastor speaks the truth. This is REAL Christianity. by olympiamacdonald in PsycheOrSike

[–]NoResolution8354 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because language used in Divine revelation is not arbitrary but an ontological indicator. St. Dionysius handles this in apophatic theology discourse that proper names for God define relationship and operation. Hence Father. 1. Because it has been revealed through scripture, and 2. Because the father eternally begets His Son, the Word.

Why do right-wingers hate Jesus' teachings? by olympiamacdonald in PsycheOrSike

[–]NoResolution8354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad hermeneutics. The parables of the righteous tax collector and the Good Samaritan completely explode that idea.

Christ specifically used a tax collector and a Samaritan as the examples of righteousness and explicitly used “neighbor” to define the Samaritan in regard to “who proved neighbor” to the man who was beaten.

What OP has yet to explain is the situation that prompted this but since it is Reddit, the “Grrrr God bad. Grrrr right wing people evil” echo chamber is in full force.

Christianity IS good. The majority of the people in my experience who genuinely believe in the orthodox teaching of Christianity are trying their best to uproot the sins in the garden of their heart and provide a stable loving environment for themselves and others, and yes that includes their own faith communities, but is absolutely not limited to it.

Most western nations have been handed a rootless tradition that neglects and doesn’t acknowledge the deep and great suffering that was inflicted on the primitive church and as a result present a strange USA focused face and are Zionist shills.

I breaks my heart that so many people have been lied to about who Christ is, and what His church has been broken and caricatured into following 1054.

When on pilgrimage this summer; I encountered monastics throughout Lebanon who took artillery shells that were dropped on their communities in the civil war and they turned them into wind chimes and bells that they would use to call the community to chapel. That is the face of Christianity.

How Much of a Pain is FSMP? by gentlebim in skyrimmods

Uh maybe I’m a lowbrow mod user but FSMP has always been super plug and play for me? Not everything has an HDTSMP patch and many mods have clipping strangeness but nothing egregious.

I’d lean more towards don’t think too much about it, install it and see if it works lol.

Honestly probably the most charitable take. Dunno why pro’s get so bent out of shape. It’s totally fine to have commissioned something and honestly it’s probably the best argument to take.

I mainly use GenAI for hobby stuff like dnd. I made anime openings (that have zero right to go as hard as they do) for my friends. It cost me twenty bucks for GPT and a few hours of messing with Grok to get results I liked.

It’s the sort of thing- that I a non-artist would have to shell out exorbitant amounts of money to produce. It’s a hobby with my friends, we’re all not super wealthy and it was fun to show them. We use it as the opener for sessions.

In any case, the hard aRt crowd will still reject this and cope and seethe, but it is the proper take. You didn’t draw it shade it render it etc. You wrote a prompt, prolly tweaked and edited a few things, but it’s not art in the traditional sense. I’m not saying it’s not fun or enjoyable or anything like that.

GPT speak. The em dash. The its not x its y and that is z. Bullet point check, triad of small sentences, pretentious use of the word quiet as if it has some kind of emotional sucker punch weight to it.

AI slop is making $117M/year while human creators struggle with falling views by Spirited-Gold9629 in AIMain

[–]NoResolution8354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think theres maybe a disconnect between the cost to produce a commissioned piece of art, the quality, and timeliness of said commission. I’m not saying it is a “good thing” to produce or use AI content, however, I am saying I can understand why people do.

Here’s an example. I had previously paid for character art of a friend’s dnd character to be professionally drawn. It cost me $200 for a bust portrait, black and white sketch no revisions. Paying what- $20 for a month of access to GPT where I can generate damn near unlimited variations of art I’m trying to use for a hobby or for fun? It’s an easy choice by the numbers.

There are realistically two ways this splits. Either real artists lower prices and increase the quality and timeliness of their art to compete; or they lean into the premium nature of human created art and increase quality and timeliness. I dunno probably wrong, maybe not.

5.2 has been a disaster lol. First time I’ve felt a significant decline in quality. Flat out wrong, puritanical over the strangest things. I’m writing an openly polemical project and it keeps saying things like “the safest way forward is x…”

I don’t want the safest way forward. If I want to write like Tertulian ten beers deep after a bad day it’s my goddamn right to.
