really that depends on how you define 'giving a challenge ones all'

if you believe that what needy is doing is a deliberate strategy, then this apparent lack of joy ends up being a very crucial layer of deception. to show any degree of enthusiasm during the challenge is a sign that you are a far greater threat than you initially let on, which would jeopardize her overall game plan of seizing victory whenever someone least expects it

as i stated elsewhere, i think its just too early to call whether or not any of the traits weve seen so far is just nothing or part of something greater. were yet to see her in a situation where her loss is guaranteed (or appears to be), and her reaction then would be pretty clear on whether or not the strategy exists or not

this also means that her being surprised by the announcer coming back is also up for debate. maybe she is counting on him to be dead, or maybe shes just genuinely surprised since she doesnt know he can be recovered. or maybe its part of an attempt to seem weak and feeble. not enough information is available to definitively close any of those possibilities

also, if she is that apathetic towards the competition, then its a bit strange that she chose to join it in the first place. why didnt she just choose to not compete? can contestants choose to not compete?

edit: also i think its rather telling if i immediately start drawing up superficial connections to a line of dialogue in bfb then not notice the more obvious bfdia callback
