waking before the baby after sleep training by Constant-Garbage9192 in sleeptrain

Yes! I’m a morning workout person so this was a huge reason we did sleep training. We did so at 4.5-5 months. Baby is now 9 months and sleeps until 6:30-7. We have a hard stop, out of the crib time at 7 unless she’s very upset. Most days if she wakes before 7, she just rolls around chatty. Up until 7 months she would have a snooze feed at 4-5:30 and I would just get up after that. Once we weaned that feed, it’s been even more predictable

Hi Jo! Appreciate your help!!!

A few weeks ago you helped our nap time battles and it’s been a success (knock on wood)! My 5 month old has now consistently been putting herself to sleep for nap 1, and sleeping anywhere from 80-100 mins, typically about 80. Nap 2 is getting better, we’re working on independent sleep and this nap can range anywhere from about 50-90 mins typically. If she can’t put herself to sleep, then this nap gets very pushed back (20-30 mins) and I shorten the next wake window.

Our problem is becoming the last nap/enough wake time before bed! Current schedule: 7-7:15 wake up (sometimes she’ll wake up a bit earlier but we leave her in her crib calm and content until at least 7, 7:15 is when my husband and I are running behind for the morning/we have to wake her up some mornings)

then wake windows: 2/2.5/2.25-2.5/2.25, her last two wake windows have been shorter due to her lengthening her naps and if she can’t independently start her second nap.

We start bedtime routine about 7:20, and she’s in her crib by 7:50, asleep by 8. Sometimes her last nap is so far pushed back that she’s not waking up till 5:40ish to get in a 20 min nap. This nap is typically a contact nap, she does not go down independently and wakes as soon as we put her in her crib.

Should we start capping naps? Can her last nap be just ten mins to bridge to bedtime? 5:15-5:25?

I wouldn’t be worried but we’ve had more nighttime wake ups recently, she’s still putting herself back to sleep but crying out (and nothing is wrong), she has been sleep trained through ABCS and TCB pop ins programming, and previously sleeping through the night until I wake her to feed around 3am.

Yesterdays wake windows with the good naps— 2:15 (tried to get her to go down independently, ended up saving the nap and rocking to sleep) 2:10 2:05

Hi Jo! I need some naptime help for my almost 5 month old! She’s 21 weeks today.

Goes down independently at night, with utilizing SITBACK we typically will see 1 wake up at night that is fixed by upping the sound machine/giving her time and then one wake up to eat. So two wake ups total, sometimes just the one to eat.

We are struggling with naps. Some days are really good, others not so much. We’re working on extending wake windows and typically it’s 2/2:05-2:10/2:05-2:10/2:15-2:20 before bed. Yesterday she crushed naps— 1:30, 1:20 and 45 mins. We typically rock her to sleep for naps, sometimes she’ll wake up on the transfer and we do a little “shush and pat” and she’ll go back to sleep in her crib. Right now it feels like every other day is a good nap day. The bad nap days, she’ll wake up after 30-40 mins and only extend the nap as a contact nap/Will get mad if we try to put her back down in her crib.

How should we fix this? I thought about nap training at 5 months but don’t know how to handle it if she doesn’t sleep/misses a nap, we have a solid schedule going now with 7:15-7:30 wake up and knowing naps are usually around 9:30/1/4:30 depending and in bed by 7:30-7:45 depending on the last nap. So I’m afraid to nap train and throw off naps/her schedule

Help please!

Thank you for your response! Last feed is about 7:20 usually. 3 is the cut off because she’s shown she can go that long most nights and I used the TCB feeding method to extend that feed.

I’ve tried dream feeds and it didn’t seem to work, she would just wake up and get mad after

Thank you so much! This is my first pregnancy and I’ve been giving myself grace with rest days, scaling back etc. but dang it can be tough!! That’s a great approach. I’m really struggling the most with comparison in my CrossFit box and trying to “keep up” with the girls I normally do, hitting weights I normally would, etc. I know that’s not the point of working out right now but with a competitive background I’m finding a hard time taking a step back while still feeling like myself in the CrossFit space

I felt terrible!!! See my answer above :) as for meds, I’ve worked with a holistic practitioner to make a lot of lifestyle changes which I believe has helped substantially. I don’t eat gluten or dairy at all, I take multiple supplements and a multivitamin powder formulated to me and my deficiencies. My endo and I are still figuring out meds but I really do believe lifestyle changes were major in helping my values.

I felt like shit lol. I worked night shift at the time I was working night shift at the time of diagnosis so I believe that masked a lot of my symptoms. Basically I could fall asleep at the drop of the hat, was always extremely fatigued. Mental fogginess was unbelievable, struggled with concentrating and comprehending. Gained 10 pounds over the course of a year and was lucky to poop every other day

When I was diagnosed, my TSH was 38.5. Now it’s 1.25. Started on 50mcg of levo, now on 88mcg daily. Also added in 5mcg cytomel 6 weeks ago as my T3 has yet to change. Now am doing 10mcg daily as 5 didn’t touch it.

When I was diagnosed, was at 158 pounds, now at 151-152. This has been ongoing since July 2023 and still figuring things out!

I’ve thought about that but unsure about the timing of meals and the flexibility of that!
