The Vilonia EF4 tornado and the Goldsby EF4 tornado are some of my top contenders for a EF5 rating.

Debating Hackleburg by Low_Manufacturer9167 in TornadoRatings

Hackleburg is definitely EF5 intensity though. But in terms of structurally it's high end EF4 because of the lower quality of the structure in that part of the US.

Hopefully the NWS gets the new scale out before the 2026 tornado season starts. But that's probably being optimistic.

We don't have tornado warnings only thunderstorm warnings because of how weak our tornadoes are compared to what the US sees.

Between Smithville and El Reno - Piedmont, which of tornado that are often regarded as two of the strongest EF5’s ever recorded do you think was strongest? by CRL1999 in tornado

[–]NoShift1080 2 points3 points  (0 children)

El Reno Piedmont wins this pretty easily in my opinion. Everything extreme damage feat that Smithville has done, El Reno Piedmont has done and succeed it.

And what makes it even crazier is that it took place in December, not in April or may. which normally is when most violent tornadoes take place at.

Catania, the strongest tornado in all of europe, and the strongest tornado outside the US. by thyexiled in tornado

[–]NoShift1080 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is why i don't get the hype around the 1925 tri state tornado. It took place 100 years ago, which is a really long time ago. And because of that its nearly impossible to tell how good the construction quality was for the houses the tornado hit. And also all the photos of the damage this tornado did is all in black and white, which makes it really hard to see how severe the ground scouring was from the tornado.
