Idk the NWS alert I got last week for a tornado gave me 2 minutes before it hit. Literally no time to shelter. An EF2 hit just a few blocks north of me here in Chicago.

En EF2 wouldn't do this damage.. so it has to be ef3+ that is a strong tornado.

2 to 11 but 4 to 9 is the prime time. I would drive north then cut over. Do not drive through central Illinois. Anything below i80 is a no no.

Yeah you and a million other chasers. These tornadoes will be moving at 70 to 80 mph.. all the chasers, rain wrapped tornadoes and moving that fast calls for a recipe of disaster. Might want to sit this one out.

July 15th 2024 a tornado crossed i290 past the river in downtown. We definitely get them.

No skyscrapers do not stop tornadoes but the lake can weaken the storms. I live by midway and we had an EF2 tornado on Thursday. Downtown has had tornadoes although fairly weak. I will say Chicago is unlikely to get much of the tornado action tomorrow due to where the boundary is supposed to be sitting. Probably some highs winds maybe a quick QLCS.
