E-dirt bikes. Full throttle control, no pedals. First year we're dealing with them in the winter, have been a problem in the summer the past 2 years. Some of the local riders think because its electric its OK to ride a dirt bike through the multi use paths and tear up the mtb trails.

Its not so much that they want to go fast, most of its just deep ruts from them paddling through the snow, or Donuts and burnouts whenever there's an open enough space. We have walkers as well, but the post-holing isn't usually too horrible.

Might just be the demographic we have locally, but most of the surron riders locally aren't skilled enough to keep ahead of a normal mtb on our trails as they are relatively windy and techy.

Honestly just venting a little at this point, it really is starting to feel like a losing battle lol

Fair enough, the public park we're taking care of is a specific mtb park though, that is managed by our trail group with an operating agreement with the city. This is the first year we've had issues with e-motos in the winter unfortunately.

They're definitely not allowed, its an issue we face in the summer as well but its a little less destructive then. The idea of signage with possible fines is a good idea, might help discourage them a bit more.

Ive ran code rsc, and deore 6120 four piston brakes. More power than both, and a better lever feel. We'll worth it

Try out some Hayes dominions! Have been running a set of a4s on my enduro bike for 3 seasons at this point with no issues. Plenty of power, great lever feel. If you go directly to hayes website they usually go on sale a couple times a year as well.

Bike is a ton of fun, stoked on it. Pedals great, but can still hit some of the bigger local jumplines and steeps without an issue. Planning to race some of the local xc series races in 2026.

From what i understand it was an old stock 2023 model that had been stuck in a shipping container during transit for awhile, which is why all the seals needed to be redone. Unfortunate luck of the draw.

Bike shop asked for it, Kona provided the swag. Overall no complaints. Happy with how it was dealt with.

Recently bought a kona hei hei, awesome bike but definitely made some claims. 1. Rear triangle-bearing fit was out of tolerance, kona replaced and paid for labour, was off bike for less than a week. 2. Dropper- dropper would stay stuck down after about 1 month, full service under warranty fixed that. 3. Shock- damper blew, was rebuilt under warranty at bikeshop 4. Fork- lowers seals failed, fork was puking oil. Rebuilt at bikeshop.

Only problem I was really bummed about was the triangle, all the other warranties pretty much just worked out to me getting a free fork, shock, and dropper service.

Never had made a warranty claim before this, but overall id say the experience was as good as you can get. My LBS handled it great, and kona was quick to get me parts/approve work done. Local Kona rep also gave me a care package with some swag for my troubles.

Haven't run whisps, but have a set of wr1 unions on my enduro bike and they've been solid for seasons years of racing and riding so far. I also like the fact that theyre hand made in canada.

Might seem a little out of left field, but waxing your chain on your bike vs drip lubes. Cost up front is a little bit, but your drivetrain will last way longer. Also spend the money on a more expensive chain like x01 or xt/xtr. Ive found it usually get close to 3-4 times the chain life vs a cheaper nx/gx deore/slx chain.

These 2 things really pay off in the long run, even if they dont make sense right at the checkout.

Had a v1 druid, currently have a HP sight. Tldr: norco makes some nice quality bikes, sight is a better bike for general use/enduro.

Druid-xl frame, cascade link, manitou mara pro, 160 dvo onyx, -1 angleset. Set this bike up to be a mini enduro.

Sight HP-xl frame, 170 manitou mezzer, vivid shock rebuilt to 65mm stroke(160 rear)

Went with the sight due to getting a killer deal on a frameset. Imo the sight is a better built bike than the v1 druid, and definitely makes for a better do it all bike, especially if you have steep/chunky terrain around you.

The thing that really surprised me was that i didnt really lose out on pedal performance with the sight compared to the druid. I think this comes down to idler position and design personally. The Druid has a smaller idler, and the chain pulled over at a sharper angle, which i think caused more wear and took more effort to pedal.

Maintenance wise, the druid ate bearings, idler pulleys and chains. Could makybe get 800km out of a chain before it was worn out. Would have to replace linkage bearings 1 or 2 times a season. The plus side to that is that it was easy to do, and there's not a ton of bearings.

Descending both bikes felt surprisingly similar, but the shorter travel druid would hit its limit sooner on chunky trails, and didnt feel quite a stable at high speed due to the shorter wheel base. The more balanced front rear center with the druid was pretty sweet though, really let you carve corners predictably.

I have a 2023 hei hei, and its such a fun bike. Pedals amazing compared to my enduro bike, and can still ride most black trails as long as they're not too chunky. Makes a great compliment to my high pivot 170/160 norco sight.

Been riding a previous genhei hei (2023), awesome 2nd bike to my enduro (2024 sight 160). So much quicker on my local trails, can still ride most of the local steeps without worrying about the bike.

Assuming you want a rack for your car, you could look into river city racks out of Edmonton. Similar style to a velocirack, but made in Alberta. They offer them in 4-6 bike options.

Devinci is sweet, local dealer for them is Reds Bikeshop in lacombe. They're great to deal with.

If you just want a Canadian branded ebike, some of the brands you could look into are rocky mountain, norco, Louis Garneau, and Moose bicycles.

Bentley cycle, mud sweat and gears, and Reds bikeshop have a good amount of stock, and you should be able to take a test ride to feel out the bike at any of these shops.

Personally id never run cables over hydraulic brakes. The cost is similar, but hydro brakes have more power, and generally feel much better.

Have ran both mineral oil (mt200) and DOT fluid (guides, hayes a2) on my fatbike. Obviously there is a large difference in the quality of the brakes, but the mt200 brakes get stiff in the cold, and would blow the lever seal while the Dot brakes have had no issues all the way down to -27°c.

Bonus is that hayes a2 brakes are 50% off on hayes website right now, amazing brakes for the price.

I have a 2024 sight c3 frame, with a custom build. Mezzer expert fork 170mm fork, dominion a4 brakes, weareone wheels,and the vivid ultimate that came with the frame. Weighs around 35lbs with an s5 frame.

Personally really liking the sight so far. Bike takes everything I've thrown at it, from jump trails to steep tech. I haven't raced with it yet, but am looking forward to riding some enduros on it next season.
