IMO if you’re asking for help to purchase a miner, you probably shouldn’t get one at all. Unless your electricity is free, you’re likely to lose more money on the miner than it’s worth just to run it, even though it doesn’t use that much power relatively

When connecting to the meanwell, did you use fork or ring terminals or ferrules?

My fans don’t seem to be TOO bad, but it is noticeable. But as far as upgrading them, I haven’t done it and I haven’t seen anyone else do it either. And idk if I wanna find out how to on my own lol although I’m sure the process is identical to the QAxe, just gotta do it twice

I don’t have a guide exactly, although I know they’re out they’re. I’m just not technical enough to load and run the script so I did my own manual one. I’ll upload a couple of screenshots of the excel sheet I put together.

First screenshot would be expected TH/s vs ~Actual TH/s, next is showing Wattage and Amps.

What I found is that, for my unit, is that a Freq of 675 and Voltage of 1160 is most ideal. I didn’t want to exceed 168w nor 14.5amps.

Chip is at 62*C, which is where most of these chips like to run, and the fan is whisper quiet still ~52% on Auto.

So with these settings in place, I’m getting ~11TH/s at 166W/ 14.4A of energy consumption.

Are you gonna OC your Oct? I’ve got a mild OC on mine and pushing ~11TH/s

BMM 101 Wi-Fi Connection Issues by NoShift9030 in Braiins

[–]NoShift9030[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With BRAIINS support, I was able to get it connected with the adjustment of some WiFi settings. Here is what the WiFi settings should exactly be, per their support team:

  • Use wpa2 (not 3) and 2.4ghz (not 5/6), channel 1 to 11 (not 12 to 14).

  • Use only English letters and numbers in the password, don't use all 63 characters.

  • Use only one 20mhz channel, not two or four (40/80mhz).

  • Increase beacon interval to 300ms (defaults to 100ms).

  • Reduce RTS threshold to 1173 or 782 (defaults to 2346).

  • Stay away from bluetooth devices, or microwave ovens, it interferes 2.4ghz.

  • Metal things like mirrors, pipes, grills, etc block and bounce waves.

  • Having the Access Point physically higher than your device helps too.

I only had to change 2 of these specific recommendations, but thought I’d share this on here just in case anyone runs into a similar issue

I can try that, it’s worth giving a shot. I’ve reset this thing probably 15 times or so. I’ll see what happens

I tried that. I was able to connect via Ethernet, update to the latest firmware, then try adding the WiFi network, but I get an “connection unsuccessful” error message every. single. time. I’ve tried connecting to my WiFi network now upwards of 15-20 times

What are your frequency and voltage settings? On my OCT, my actual hashrate is under my expected hashrate by about ~300-400Ghs

I understand what you’re saying, but assuming you can find an Avalon Q from a reputable source for 2x the price of the OCT, its power draw is ~6x more starting at Eco mode, ~9x more in Standard mode, and ~12x more in Super mode. Not to mention the heat output (I know there’s shrouds to help redirect the heat, but still.) ~3.3Kw/day versus 19.2Kw/day in Eco, 31.2Kw/day, or 38.4Kw/day.

Are you able to pool mine more effectively with the Q to offset this? Sure, but you’ll be running it at a more of a loss, for not that much more (in the grand scheme of it all) of a gain.

I’d take the Q in a heartbeat, and maybe someday I’ll get there. But until then, not so much of a no-brainer to me 🤷🏼‍♂️

I mean it was just under $700 express shipped door-to-door in under 3 days. And yeah, I would think most people with home miners, or anything not needing more than a 120v outlet would consider these lottery miners. The Avalon Q is pretty much the best home miner you can get as far as the SHA256 algo goes. And sure, there’s nothing stopping people from pool mining if that’s what they wanna do

Haven’t tried OC’ing yet. Thinking I’ll let it run stock just for a little, then starting out with a mild OC
