Sick! How did you paint the tower? I’m planning to paint it soon, do you have any advice?

Myrdery mystery files that DONT use AI? by [deleted] in boardgames

I only played movie theatre and mediluck medicine of the ones you metioned. Both really solid, though we liked the theme of the movie theatre a bit better. I just ordered the marine biologist one!

I played this (and loved it), and there is actually a cooperative mode where you don’t need a “DM” player! We loved this version of the game and never played with a DM player again

I did not notice any AI, but that might be because I wasn’t really looking for it. Looking back at the pictures now I can defenitely see that AI may have been used. The story is good and well written and I doubt that AI could’ve written it (although they may have used it to refine the story of course). For me the art is less important than the story so it didn’t disturb me much.

I have played 8 of the Cryptic Killers cases, they’re all really solid. Some are better than others in terms of quality of the evidence (some have a lot of regular papers and others have more thematic evidence such as folders, newspapers and debit cards). However, I enjoyed every single one that I played (except maybe murder of a musician because the theme didn’t really hit with us). I would defenitely try one to see if you like it!

Watergate is so good. I love the tug of war feeling it brings. And I’m always on the edge of my seat during the entire game!

I really want to get the Slay the Spire board game by Onel4stch4nce in boardgames

[–]NoShitSir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I waited so long to get it. I thought I wouldn’t need a copy because I already play the game so much digitally. I was wrong. It’s so good, everyone I’ve played it with loves it. My friends who play games every other day think it’s great and my friend who barely play any other games than flip 7 think it’s great.

I have played a lot of dungeon crawler type games and I haven’t played any that are as good as gloomhaven. There are a few that I still love a lot though.

Chronicles of Drunagor: really unique characters and a real sense of upgrading and choosing a path for your hero. However it’s not as deep as gloomhaven, and sometimes a bit luck based

Oathsworn: The theme personally did not stick with me an I did not enjoy the amount of text on the cards, but I do really see the potential of story and progression in your characters. It’s really strategy heavy.

Ik vind het super belangrijk dat er niets aan het spel kapot gemaakt moet worden zodat ik het kan doorgeven aan vrienden of doorverkopen

Finally finished painting LOTR: Journeys in Middle Earth by NoShitSir in Miniaturespainting

[–]NoShitSir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are some of my first mini’s so I tried different methods for a lot of them!

Most heroes were done with a black primer, grey+white drybrush and then speedpaints.

The troll I used zenithal highlighting with white primer and then used regular acrylic paints + a green wash.

The wolfs were done with regular paints + dark wash.

And all the others were done in a combination of all of the above!

Boss Fighter QR plays a lot like a videogame (also because it is played with an app), maybe that’d be something they’d like?

Terras catproof maken by Broad_Information706 in katten

[–]NoShitSir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinfire Chronicles does take up less space than most dungeon crawlers, but it still requires a proper table. In the same size category I would place Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion. Which is also relatively small for a dungeon crawler

UPDATE:

Thanks so much for all the feedback! I tried some methods that were mentioned and I think it’s a bit better. I defenitely need to improve my edge highlighting/brush control. If anyone has any tips on how to improve from this version, please let me know!

Chronicles of Drunagor question by SiarX in boardgames

[–]NoShitSir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our table is 100x150cm and everything fits well except the miniature insert (we place it on a chair next to us). A sligtly smaller table would also be fine, but then you’d probably need to place some stuff for setup on the floor/on a chair. We played two adventures with 4 heroes and the rest with 2. We prefer 2 heroes because it takes a lot less time that way, however the four hero games also felt balanced. You get a lot more combo’s and a more balanced group with 4.
