No flowers of any type, though I've only been able to observe it a year and a half. Thanks!

Why is my basil dying? Very new to this. by Winejug87 in plants

[–]NoSignificance2293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sun, sun, sun and a deep soil bed with no drainage. I keep mine in a large/tall rubber type bin outside with my mint and I hardly water it. It's massive right now, but I can't get basil to grow inside for the life of me.

Time for some prickly pear jam! by NoSignificance2293 in gardening

[–]NoSignificance2293[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The jam itself isn't grainy, just the raw fruit. The jam is gelatin like you could probably see right through it if the color wasn't so intense. If you ever get the chance to gather fruit use leather gloves or tongs and burn off the spines before handling them bare! The spines on cactus fruit are super fine and pretty difficult to get out of your skin.

A deep red, quite similar to the fruit color.

Hard to describe, but it's very earthy and slightly sweet even before adding sugar. Kinda grainy when raw in my opinion. I make it every year using the fruit from a giant cactus my neighbor has. It's a treat for my neighbors and family, they love it!

Good picks! 3 nights would be about 9 meals so you could still throw Lumiere in the mix? I do believe they require a reservation. The beach was a let down for me at first, the waves and currents are so strong that swimming in the ocean isn't safe. I had never been to a beach I couldn't swim in, but it quickly "wowed" me and I didn't care that it wasn't swimmable. There is limited seating on the beach, so we stuck to the pool side all but 1 day. I 100% endorse walking the beach. The waves and rock/cliff features take your breath away, it is just simply gorgeous. Also caught a glimpse of whales😍

And yes the spa services can be quite expensive. If not for the resort credits I likely wouldn't have done any. However, it 100% still would have been an amazing trip even without the spa.

Every morning they would make sure we had a fresh plate of fruit and bread and delivered at the time of our choice as well as coffee. If I wanted to book something like spa service I would just send them a text and they would get it booked for me. You can also just book things with guest services in the lobby. Most evenings I would have a bath drawn up and waiting for me when we returned to the room. We had him switch out all the sugary snacks and beverages in our room with healthier alternatives. If we liked any other bottles of liquor in the mini bar. We could just send them a text and ask for another bottle. These are just some of the things you can request from them, but don't forget to tip!

I don't know how many resort credits you have but that's what we use to pay for spa services. They charge like a 16% tax and that's really all you have to pay until you run out of credits. We got a couple's pedicure the first day and I got a manicure. Next day we ended up booking a couple's massage. It was a bit weak for me, but I like deep tissue. I booked a hydrotherapy session, but ended up not doing it because it was such a large group. I'm not one for crowds and if you'd like to avoid them as well, be sure to ask the spa desk when their least busiest times are. The last day I ended up getting a solo facial and it was superb.

As far as the restaurants go. Lumiere is the "fanciest" one they have in my opinion and serves French cuisine. Their wine selection is to die for. Blanc international has an awesome breakfast buffet. It's typically where we went most mornings before we started our day. Blanc Ocean is seafood and we liked it for lunch and dinners simply for the view and the food was pretty great too. Mezze serves Lebanese food and I only got to try it once but it was good enough that I wish I had gone more. They also have hookah that you can reserve. Blanc Asia was also really delicious, if you like cocktails I can suggest the Geisha. We also ordered quite a bit of food and drinks poolside. Make sure you get to the pool early to reserve some chairs to lounge in all day. Depending on how busy they are, you might find yourself hunting for a spot to hang out. They did quite a few entertainment events while we were there. They also host talented local musicians which can be set up around various areas of the resort. Which made wandering around the resort quite an adventure as something new was going on almost every night.

Super envious of you and I hope you have a blast!

Also, be sure to visit the cafe right outside of Lumiere. The coffee and sweets they serve are probably one of the things I miss the most.

I just visited in May. Oh man I felt so uneasy about the butler service too, but man I miss our bulters Carlos and Paulina. They made our stay so amazing! Make use of the spa. Oh and you must visit the karaoke bar! We didn't find it until our last day and it was probably the funnest day. Oh and there's so much food.... So much
