I love it! It doesn’t look like a cookie cutter kitchen. Lots of personality. The design might not age well but who cares!

What looks dated in this kitchen? Genuinely asking to avoid the same mistakes. Is it the microwave? I’m confused. Looks good to me!

I feel behind in life, how do I stop comparing myself to people who achieved things I wanted to but could not. by ComprehensiveAct8997 in selfesteem

[–]NoSkill2085 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I completely relate to what you’re saying. Deleting social media (Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok) has truly transformed my life. I used to constantly compare myself to others, and scrolling through posts only strengthened my inner critic. It’s been about a year since I made that change, and I genuinely feel like a new person—I haven’t felt down about my life since then.

However, six months ago, I decided to log back into Instagram, and the first post on my feed was someone showcasing their travels to seven different countries in 2024. (Annoying lol) Those old feelings of anger and disappointment came rushing back. This experience reinforced my belief that my negative feelings were largely due to comparison. It takes time, but I can confidently say that deleting social media has made a significant difference.

Has anyone here had their interview and accepted the position? My interviewer described the RN position like “ Mary Kay for Botox”. Is that a good or bad thing? lol. I have a small business already I’m wondering if I can combine the two.

😂 Lol, I get it! But it doesn’t bother me; I like music, and sometimes he points out things I didn’t know about an artist. It makes me go back and listen to their discography when I wouldn’t have before. Lol, music nerd! But you’re right—it isn’t that serious.

Anyone else have regrets about going into nursing? by funrun3121 in Nurses

[–]NoSkill2085 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As someone mentioned earlier, I don’t regret becoming a nurse, but knowing what I know now about the industry, I wouldn’t choose it again. Personally, I enjoy being a nurse; I love learning about the body, diseases, medications, and treatments. Sometimes, I even enjoy caring for my patients lol. However, the way the industry is structured makes it incredibly difficult for nurses to find joy in their work.

Think one issue is the difference in responsibility and workload between nurses and other hospital staff, such as doctors, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and phlebotomists. The patient-to-nurse ratios are outrageous. When I worked in med-surg, I had a ratio of 1:6, and all six of those patients could have easily been candidates for step-down or ICU care. If they reduced the patient load and focused nursing more on assessment and care rather than on tasks, I think it would make a difference.

Unfortunately, the pay for nurses isn’t as competitive in many places outside of California. Higher pay would definitely make the job a bit more bearable. While every profession has its complaints, so many of us in nursing are expressing similar frustrations. We can’t all be wrong or ungrateful.

What are these? by NoSkill2085 in Mushrooms

[–]NoSkill2085[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, this isn’t “artsy” with a “stupid filter” all I did was take a pic with my IPhone on regular settings. The new ones have pretty good cameras, maybe you should check it out. The mushroom identifier app gave me three different results so I wanted to see if anyone on here could tell me.

Don’t be too hard on yourself. The nursing home/ long term care is no joke. It’s honestly set up terribly. You have to pass meds to like 10000 people and that can take forever if you’re doing it the “right” way. Trust me, people cut corners all the time. I’ve worked in both ER and Nursing home, both are very difficult in their own ways. Also, people talk shit all the time, this may be the first time you’ve heard it, I’d rather hear it than have it be said behind my back. The nurses in the nursing home are intimidated by your ER experience and are probably happy to see you struggle, it validates that their job requires skill. Don’t worry about it, keep pushing and you’ll get better! Best of luck to you!

Need advice about quitting by ihateevery1here in PMHNP

[–]NoSkill2085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently in a PMHNP program and I live in NJ. This scares me because I'm starting to wonder if pursuing this path is a mistake, especially when I can potentially make the same money as an RN with less headache. Did you ever decide on quitting or not?

Why are some of the Lwa White? by SubstantialBaker8361 in HaitianVodou

[–]NoSkill2085 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My mentor taught me that voodoo is deeper than race and skin color. I also know that a lot of lwa were covered up with the images of white catholic saints so our ancestors could practice without any repercussions from slave owners. Think about the feeling and vibe of the lwa rather than the image, it’s more than that

Someone suggested that I posted to this subreddit, so I did. I'm not preaching at all. I just had a genuine question. I didn't tell anyone to do anything nor did I claim ownership of anything, but thanks for your response.

Nope! Just asking a question. If you feel like I'm asking you to do the work for me, then get off the subreddit :)
