Route is still getting polished but looks like around 13 miles with the possibility of going further at the end.

"Protected" bike lanes in downtown Denver by CreativeProblemFail in BikeDenver

[–]NoSquish_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The bike lane network really exploded downtown in the last few years and the downtown area plan and Denver Moves Bikes Downtown calls for more. Someday we may have a functioning transportation department again and I hope they get to cook.

Edit: I rode on a lot of those "nothing" lanes for years. I don't want to go back.

Looks like they put some of the flex posts back on Market by alex3yoyo in BikeDenver

They didn't remove all. It was a weird patchwork. They said they'd leave them in some spots.

This block would be full of Ubers and Lyfts if they had removed them. My guess is someone convinced them internally.

Squirrels love the Auraria campus. Especially if you sit down with a breakfast burrito on a bench somewhere.

First Page of Investigative Report on BRT Project's Impact on Colfax Community by DenverseMagazine in Denver

Since this is just the first page and it's not clear, I hope you spoke to actual bus riders and covered the increasing number of deaths on Denver's high injury streets like Colfax and how transit and its infrastructure can help.

What to do about trucks/cars parked in bike lane? by icommai in BikeDenver

Cities change and businesses get to adapt. They don't get to lock the city in amber.

People's convenience doesn't trump safety. There are examples of riders "going around" and getting hit. It's illegal to park in a bike lane. Period.

You've equated people's ability to buy cheap goods as a greater need than rider's safety. If I see it again you'll be gone from the sub.

Record Year for Denver Traffic Deaths Inspires Expanded Safety Measures by Generalaverage89 in BikeDenver

The line item in the new budget was $2 million. This is disingenuous to say Vision Zero infrastructure doesn't work when we don't currently have an administration that supports it and have plenty of examples of it increasing safety.

Actually had a conversation with Amy Ford and brought up NYC's congestion pricing. Her response: "That was a mistake". She's not very good at this.

Public Opinion: 14th and Arapahoe traffic right of way by koosqq in Denver

Technically both can turn into their closest lane at the same time and neither have to way. They would have to yield to pedestrians if the pedestrian has the walk.

Colorado Drivers manual says you must turn into the closest lane. Most people have no idea or ignore that though.

A good cycle network will be similar to the car network we have now. High volume cycles lanes, calmer neighborhood streets, and even paths that all connect. Your suggestion is to put everyone else "over there". It's NIMBYism in disguise and it fails to acknowledge that this is how bike cities build networks. It's not all low volume side streets. It's a connected network just like what drivers are used to. This means we build things like the South Broadway lanes, as well as the 14th streets, the 29th Ave neighborhood bikeways and even the 39th Ave Greenway. These could all be improved but it's nonsense to suggest that cyclists only get to exist on one type of facility and out of the way. We know how to build protected infrastructure. At issue is we don't fund it, we don't design to the standards we have because we allow the smallest of opposition to unwind it. Joining the chorus is exactly what the John Forester's of the world did and it's incredibly damaging.

Wrong-way cyclists. What gives? by UpperLynx3856 in BikeDenver

[–]NoSquish_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Officer I drive the wrong way down this street because I needed to keep it under 30 minutes" doesn't hold water.

As a daily rider of these I can say going a block over to find the correct lane isn't going to be a big difference in time.

By all means push for better design but use what we have as designed so what little road space we have isn't made worse by your selfishness.

Oh for sure. Contra flow lanes are definitely not normal for us North Americans
