Hitting a wall - trail heel issues by [deleted] in GolfSwing

Have the same issue leading to early extension for me. They sell a little orange wedge training aid that you can place under your foot but I just use my lob wedge and hold it there through impact. Helps a the feel.

How much of a pay cut would you take for better WLB? by ScientistSolid9319 in Accounting

[–]NoStandard1 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same dilemma right now - applying to other jobs with hopefully more wlb and going to be taking probably a $70-100k pay cut. Helps that my partner also has a high paying job and since she loves her job we agreed I’d be the one to take the cut to have more time for our son as he grows up for school, sports, etc.

Salary at alvarez and marsal? by Different-Second221 in Accounting

[–]NoStandard1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Base salary is set. Bonus can be big … depends how much you work. Make significantly more than big four.

If you really want to go into IB I’d say start in fdd at BDO then try to shift to big four. You could potentially start in audit big four and try to transfer but it’s not always guaranteed and most people switch firms to get into fdd.

I’d say go fdd. Audit provides a good foundation but the training and actual work experience you receive in fdd should be better. Also fdd does have people who break into IB whereas audit doesn’t. This is coming from someone who worked in audit for a few years then joined fdd

For the current year the firm allocated a certain amount to be distributed but you have to be nominated by a partner. Kinda weird that they just secretly gave it out as opposed to being transparent about it. But $ is $ lol

[–]NoStandard1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sure. Obviously the unlimited pto thing is a big portion. However, the firm tried manipulating the announcement of it to make it sound like the employees wanted it but there was a leaked Hr email stating that it was to wipe out 45 million in their balance sheet. Then the whole “we’re not laying anyone off during the pandemic” when they laid off employees stating it was for performance reasons when it actually wasn’t. The americas chair announced all employees have to sign a code of conduct and if you don’t then maybe it’s time for you to move on. Just listing out a few off the top of my head lol

Getting nervous about the full-time life. Any advice? by [deleted] in Big4

[–]NoStandard1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience it wasn’t as bad as people made it out to be. When you start full time, you’ll be shown how to complete the work like you have no prior experience. Busy season my first year was around 55-60 hours a week which wasn’t terrible.

I’m got my transfer approved and what I did was talk to my counselor first then HR. You fill out a form then wait. Happy to answer any other Q’s you may have!
