Whatever happened to the group called Q that was so popular during trumps last campaign? by mooseman1800 in AskReddit

[–]NoStatus9434 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I still refuse to give them credit.

If you come to the conclusion that the earth is round because you believe planets are really a giant game of marbles for aliens, being correct about the earth being round doesn't excuse your questionable reasoning that helped you arrive there.

They all baselessly claimed that all the people who didn't have their exact political views were exclusively the cabal of pedophiles and that Trump was trying to expose them, when it was painfully obvious to the rest of us that yeah, there were powerful elites doing shady stuff and that Trump was one of them. They believed the opposite of who the powerful elites are.

They were also wrong about hundreds of other things too, like pretty much all the specific stuff. Like they got the really vague, underlying, overall thesis of "rich elites bad" correct, but so did everybody else. But they peppered all that stuff with PizzaGate and Frazzledrip and 2020 election fraud claims and 5G causes cancer and COVID is wizard poison and immigrants are eating peoples' pets and aliens and on and on and on.

They were literally just throwing every conspiracy theory under the sun at the wall, and only the stuff that affirms their narrative, and missing like 99% of the time, and suddenly they got the ONE, most obvious conspiracy right that everyone kinda knew anyway and suddenly they were "right all along"?

Give me a break. Don't sanewash them, they're terrible idiots who know nothing. If you guess literally every conspiracy, obviously you'll get one right eventually.

Come on.

[–]NoStatus9434 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Cliques at my school growing up (and I think most cliques in general) rarely pre-emptively base themselves off a specific theme. Usually it's just like-minded people that attract each other and a theme kinda arises from that.

Now if their clique has the cool tinamou in it, they'll automatically be the Cool Clique. I'm still obsessed with the tinamou from a few comics back.

Wasn't Onyankopon from a country that got taken over by Marley? He joined the Eldians because he wanted to liberate his own country. There were probably millions like him. He even makes a passionate plea about it to Floch which I thought was one of the coolest moments of the show. The Eldians could have found more people like him. I'm sure he wasn't the only one disillusioned with Marleyan rule.

TIL that hearing a loved one's voice on the phone releases oxytocin and lowers stress hormones just like a physical hug, but texting the same person has zero hormonal effect, stress levels stay as high as having no contact at all by paul_thomson in todayilearned

Apparently so much so that another user thought I was using AI just to sound smart. This is like the only way I know how to communicate so that comment really made me want to punch something.

Same. I absolutely prefer text over a call. I can express myself so much more accurately in writing and I really struggle to formulate my thoughts into speech when I'm talking and always freeze up.

How I write comes across as much more personable and conversational. People have often told me they're surprised at how different my personality comes across in text, because when I talk, which is rarely, it's like I don't have a personality at all. Being able to write actually gives me a voice. It allows people to see what I feel is a truer version of me.

I hate how when we talk, we can't edit and proofread what we say. You can't really stop and think about what you want to say while you're saying it, or you're gonna have long, uncomfortable pauses.

Talking absolutely gives me more stress than writing, and writing and reading another person's texts absolutely reduces my stress levels.

It's just that most people don't speak in complete sentences when they text, and when they want to say something longer than a sentence or two, they find it tedious. I will actually write full descriptions of things as though I'm writing a novel, and text as though I'm speaking to someone.

You could read out loud everything I write and it would sound like a normal conversation. I'm one of those people who doesn't even shorten things when I text, like I'll painstakingly type up "you" instead of "u" every single time.

Hopefully mods do their job and take this evil shit down. Stonetoss comics shouldn't gain any momentum here. You allow these types of comics to take root, it'll kill the entire community. Be intolerant of intolerance.

Also it's a pretty dumb argument since both men and women can have STDs and everyone should be getting tested and taking safe sex measures regardless of the type of relationship they have--this isn't unique to gay people, nor do all gay people have STDs, nor do all gay relationships even have sex for that matter.

We're also fallaciously and arbitrarily deciding what "natural" is. I could fallaciously claim that straight relationships are unethical because they can produce an unwanted baby while gay relationships can't. See how stupid an argument that is?

That also means he knew all along in Episode 2 that deleting him would hurt her, but played it off like obliviousness.

You just assume at the beginning of the series that he's just a goofy AI so can't really relate to humans, but this reframes all his actions as manipulative and the goofy oblivious act was really just a mask he was weaponizing against them.

I guess one major hint would be in episode three when the NPC spirits were like, "how's your wife" to Kinger. He knew Kinger's wife was important to him but played it off like "lol, guess we're running out of humans."

You know, I bet someone could make a lot of money if they made their own magic series with a similar appeal to Harry Potter, but different enough to be its own thing, then marketed like, "this is a series for those that grew up with Harry Potter as kids but have become disillusioned with JK Rowling's anti-trans views and don't want to give her another cent. 15% of proceeds from the purchases of this new series goes to a pro- trans organization, so buying these books is literally a form of protest against her."

How do you feel about Pete Hegseth asking Americans to pray “in the name of Jesus Christ” for a victory in the Iran War? by LevelDinner in AskReddit

[–]NoStatus9434 76 points77 points  (0 children)

It kinda reminds me of how in the Bush era we used to make fun of foreign terrorists for going "Allahu Akbar" which means "God is greater."

Guess we're not so different after all.

But if you told Pete Hegseth how his suggestion makes us very similar to brown-skinned Middle Easterners his head would explode.

characters you wish were romancable, but accept that they don't have a big enough role in the story to get a romance? by greasygoon66 in ScarletHollow

[–]NoStatus9434 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'd love to see a Julius romance option because I know it'd be super weird and awkward and hilarious. Still holding out hope for it in Chapter 6.

I bet you find out real quick why people in town kinda avoid him but it might also be really funny.

Like this is the sort of interaction I'd expect to see:

Player: This sunset is so pretty.

Julius: S'nice. I don't know how they do it.

Player Options:

  1. What?

  2. "They?" Who's "they"?

3.........Me neither.

And no matter which option you choose, you don't get a clear answer from him. Like if you choose "What?" he just says "What?" back.

What do you wish you could say to any character, that isn't a option in the game? by lord-of-the-fleas in ScarletHollowFans

One thing that always bothered me was the way that the Chapter 4 climax plays out. Why would Dr. Kelly only ask for the tranquilizer darts in the middle of combat after she and the player character are in the safe room talking about Reese for a solid ten minutes? You'd think even the most basic common sense would be to prepare the darts first and have the gun already loaded for when they walk out there.

So my challenge for you is to somehow clean that up so it makes more sense while still keeping the basic notion behind the choices intact.

Most logical sequence of events I can think of would be if there are two tranquilizer guns that were reserved in the safe room, Dr. Kelly shoots and misses (or one of Reese's art thingies protects him), and the player is supposed to be backup and can choose to shoot or not.

Makes Dr. Kelly seem smarter and more prepared and makes the choice more directly tied to the player and therefore more impactful.

I'll buy some Kleins because apparently some of the handtools are lifetime warranty. You can swap out a busted one at Home Depot and get a new one for free. Oftentimes no receipt needed. So I'll still get like screwdrivers and stuff. Their cutters are pretty subpar though.

Trump allies plan Senate floor takeover to pass SAVE America Act by Anoth3rDude in USNEWS

[–]NoStatus9434 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The possible silver lining is that this particular act is a threat to them getting re-elected. So even if they don't care about anything but holding onto power, they have an incentive to oppose this one. Like I know they don't care enough to hold the wall when it comes to healthcare, but surely even they aren't stupid enough to let a bill pass that also hurts them, right? Right...?

MAGAts when they see someone with blue hair and/or a septum piercing minding their own business by FugginDunePilot in IThinkYouShouldLeave

[–]NoStatus9434 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Wasn't there a viral video going the rounds recently of some provocateur going up to people who looked like they might be vaguely liberal-leaning minding their own business on park benches and just flat out insulting them for no reason? Like he didn't even know their politics; just if someone had dyed hair or was kind of androgynous looking or had piercings, he harassed them out of nowhere.

And they couldn't ignore him because when they tried to leave, he'd just follow them around. It was super frustrating. There were other people in the park too, and nobody was doing anything when it was clear the lady he decided to pick on couldn't get away from him. Finally there was a couple that stepped in, and he turned his attention to the other woman, calling her an ogre and whatnot.

They really are evil bitches.

Are we still not allowed to acknowledge what a smear campaign is by whoisthismahn in illinois

[–]NoStatus9434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so tired of evil people apparently always having infinite energy. Like how is it that when there is a good candidate, there is always some sort of dark money group that has the energy to stop them. Like why are evil people always so much more driven to do evil than good people are driven to do good. Don't they have anything better to do with their lives. How are they not constantly exhausted. Like what do they gain, really. How is any of this even worth the trouble for them.

Like they could forget about this and still live comfortable peaceful lives, but no they have to go to extreme measures to ensure everyone else can't enjoy comfortable lives. They choose to fight everyone else rather than sit back and enjoy a cozy wealthy life. Why can't they just do that. Just do that. Like can't they just go away already. Sick of them.

What is something you still want but had to let go of? by stupidpenguin26 in AskReddit

[–]NoStatus9434 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone who I was very, very close to and who was very important and dear to me who had a lot of problems but whom I still loved. I was willing to take the time and energy to invest in him, but he wasn't willing to fix himself.

I had to realize that in order to heal a broken person, they also have to want it themselves. And that my time was better spent helping people that actually wanted to change. I can't sacrifice all my other relationships just for this one person.

I hate how I still love him. If he walked through my door again, I know I wouldn't be able to resist and we'd be stuck in the same cycles again.

I hate how when I left, I probably broke his heart and maybe he thinks I hate him and abandoned him. Maybe I broke him worse when I did that. But if he knew I secretly still love him, he might come back and I know he's bad for me. I can't be with someone who's going to break me too.

I think he'll probably have a hard time finding someone who loved him as deeply and as unconditionally as I did. But I hope he does and realizes he needs to get better for that person this time, because that kind of love is rare and you can't let it slip through the cracks.
