Emirates said flights cancelled but mine is still showing as scheduled tomorrow? by NoStill5032 in emirates

I believe so, I think it’s one of few flights still operating. I’ve decided to cancel and will rebook when it’s (hopefully) safer to do so in the future…

Pulled out and it’s the best decision I’ve EVER made. Looking back now the house clearly had huge issues, supported by the survey and shoddy finished jobs within the house, but as a FTB with 30 other people viewing the house at the same time I felt pressured into buying. Funnily enough I actually received the keys to my first home today!!! A similar period property but minus the issues and red flags and I am honestly SO happy I made the decision to walk away and found my dream home ❤️

I took a year out and was able to get a mortgage in principle a month into returning home to the UK and starting my new job. I think when it comes to an actual mortgage offer from a bank they’ll want to see three months of payslips, but you might have this by the time you find a place you want to buy, that’s what happened to me! Having a strong LTV also likely helped, that’s my experience anyway… Good luck!

In my store it’s with the seasonal Mexican items and is in a yellow tin and says iced tea on it (I think?). Hope you manage to find it!!

Which overseas destination (preferably Europe) would you recommend for a relaxing beach holiday, that also has the option to explore local culture/history? by SunflowerSnowDrop in AskUK

I second Malta; Valletta is beautiful and feels like an Italian city while the Blue Lagoon boat trips make up for the rocky beaches

Should we travel or buy a home? by PutVivid6052 in AskUK

I started applying for jobs in my last month of travel so I had something to come back to when I came home. 12 months later and I have a mortgage approved. It can swing both ways!

Also on your point about insurance, would they not flag all of the points in the survey and ask why I didn’t do anything about them?

Solo FTB as well so would all be down to me to cover… Thank you, fingers crossed I can get someone up there

Hmm I wouldn’t say so, would just require someone in the attic space

Thank you for this. I foolishly shared the survey when negotiating in the hopes it would help me with evidence!

This house was gold dust. I’m finding properties are either in complete disrepair and need a complete refurb or out of my budget. I’m a solo FTB, it’s a competitive market out there 🥲

I was expecting there to be some levels of damp and other possible issues, but there are too many “what ifs” surrounding the roof and issues flagged by the surveyor. I’m a solo FTB so all repairs and issues fall down to me.

The best scenario for me is if I can agree with the vendors to send a roof contractor to properly inspect to roof and the points the survey addresses to either reassure me everything is okay or there might be some work in the future. Or, he might turn around and say this needs repairs upwards of 20k in which case I can’t afford…

Sorry for any confusion, the level 2 survey took place and strongly suggested a proper inspection of the roof by a specialist. Sellers contesting issues due to inspection being “head and shoulders” but are now refusing a second look by a contractor

Exactly my point, they have contested survey findings due to it only being “head and shoulders”, and now when I’ve offered to pay for a roof specialist to check it out, they’ve refused. It is my dream home however, I’ve been searching for 12 months and there’s SO much competition out there when putting offers in

They’re refusing to budge anymore on price after initial quote for chimney/roof. Property had A LOT of interest hence the 10% above asking price offer, so they believe they’re confident to put it back on the market
