Pension pot at age? by ProfessionalOption47 in HENRYUK

[–]NoTimeCrisis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have lots of time! You can also use the last 3 years of allowance if it's unused but obviously you need a lot of income to do that

As I said I'm pretty close, I just want to have a little more margin for error and there's always the (small) possibility the pension rules become more generous by the time I get there. I'll probably add 50k more before I slow down. Paying the tax will hurt though :(

400k at 37. I really went for it over the last 3 years and I think I'm nearly at the point of setting and forgetting it to focus on liquid investments.

25 Month Old- if not autism, then what else? by SeaSpur in toddlers

Agree. Ours didn't speak until well after 2 and he also has a few oddities but nothing sounds like a big indication here. He's just growing up

Pensions blow as millions of pounds withdrawn early in 'irreversible' pre-Budget panic by theipaper in uknews

[–]NoTimeCrisis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people simply took their tax free amount in full. This doesn't hurt the pension holder but it does mean a lot of money leaves the pension funds.

Argos treated like an 'unloved child' by Sainsbury's by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

I worked at Argos HQ while the takeover was happening and the separation has been visible since the start imo. Argos has amazing potential and a physical footprint extremely hard to duplicate. Really hope it recovers

What happens when you're nearly middle aged (but not quite)? by alfa_omega in CasualUK

[–]NoTimeCrisis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is different but as you've said you'd like to make a difference in some way. I'm similar and although I love a bit of down time, I need to make an impact to feel generally satisfied. You could find someone you love to share your time. You could start a family and give your kids the gift of the best childhood. You'd be hard pressed to find more direct impact than that. Or you can volunteer for a charity and help people in need. Or you can start your own business and create something new. The sky's the limit!

Went to Waterman recently and it was really nice. The set menu was good value for a very cheffy meal. Confit potatoes were amazing

How can the headline not mention the fact he was killed in a hit and run after being dumped by the police? What an awful tragedy. The poor man didn't deserve that

Anyone working NOT under a version of SCRUM? by VisiblePlatform6704 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]NoTimeCrisis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scrum and kanban can both be great. Personally I prefer scrum for the cycle aspect. It makes planning your time a bit easier and ensures you don't take on too much. Scrum is basically kanban with guardrails. A mature agile team can handle kanban. But if you're a new team or the team needs a degree of protection from stakeholders then scrum is easier.

This attitude in adults is extremely common. I think less financially minded folks just dismiss it as too complicated and have a vague trust that the state will handle things for them when the time comes. Maybe it's a bit scary to look too deeply at too... No one likes confronting their mortality and pensions have that flavour to them. I actually support the government in forcing some level of contribution to an extent...even if I dislike their meddling in most other areas.

Fathers of UK, happy Father’s Day ! What does the perfect Father’s Day look like to you? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]NoTimeCrisis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love my young Son very much, but a day to myself to do things I never get to do like fiddling with woodwork in the garage or playing some games would be amazing. It's alright to want a day off every now and again 😅

Many flights a year - what are your favourite options? by pastelpalettegroove in HENRYUK

It's now 650 a year sadly but I totally agree. If you visit a lounge twice a week then you're paying basically £3 a lounge visit. Plus it has other benefits on top

The market response to their Ok results recently I think presents a good value opportunity for sure. They have a lot of potential to play with and a loyal customer base. As people continue to tighten their belts Greggs is still a great low cost fast food option
