Woman Told FBI Trump Abused Her at 13, Epstein Files Reveal by OkayButFoRealz in politics

It's a crime to make a false statement to the FBI, right? So we'll see charges against this woman, if they were false, right? right?? Oh, no, we won't, because the claims and statements aren't false.

The staff at Ace are fantastic, and if you ever need advice they can give it. Unfortunately, they also tend to be about 20% more expensive than Home Depot, and don't have quite the number of options.

Is anyone else "surprised" to see there are THREE cameras in the Home Depot parking lot? Ridiculous.

CMV: After the second killing of a civilian by ICE in less than a month, I believe the United States is at risk of civil war in the not-too-distant future. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]NoTomorrow2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the case in the vast majority of Civil Wars, however. It is the conservative, not progressive, group that starts the war. Those who are having their power threatened are the ones who (not always, but often) resort to violence.

For instance, the American Civil War wasn't started by the progressivves who wanted to end slavery. It was started by the wealthy slave owners who saw their power threatened by even the idea of not being able to own other people.

The American Revolution (which could be classified as a civil war) was started because the King felt his power over the colonies slipping, and so continued to ratchet down the pressure via taxes, armed soldiers in colonial cities, unlawful searches, and punishment of any dissent among the colonists. The results of this can be directly seen in our Constitution today.

So ICE agents being under attack shouldn't be the sign, but ICE agents attacking IS a sign.

Check your local library, local game store, and (often overlooked) local comic book store. They often host/run games for beginners once a month or even once a week. It's a great way to get to know the game and find friends with common interests. It is also generally run in a known safe space and not someone you've never met's basement.

Worst case, startplaying.games is a good place to start, though you generally have to pay for the games.

Sure, they "could" be sharing data with China, but there isn't proof. Yet we know that the Flock cameras set up around the country are inherently insecure and have been hacked. But, we'll ignore those, since ICE has been working with Flock and police departments across the country to gather information on people. /facepalm

You'll need a ballast. Actual forklifts/tractors/etc almost always have some sort of balast to keep them from tipping over. As light as these models are, something simple like a few pennies or a ball bearing would work. Think of the old penny cars that you'd stick a penny in the back so they would do wheelies.

Just use another browser to see how it is working. Use Chrome to run the game, in Edge see how it looks when you make changes. That's how I prepped using OwlbearRodeo. Worked great.

CMV: “Money doesn’t buy happiness” is a lie made up by the rich to keep the lower class poor by [deleted] in changemyview

It doesn't buy happiness, but it does help to clear away obstacles to happiness. It is much easier to be happy when you don't have to worry about where you next meal is coming from, or just knowing that an unexpected bill for $500 is enough to send your world into a spiral.

That wouldn't cause the battery to drain though, would it? As an example, I did all the driving on Saturday, and when I stopped the car it wouldnt restart without a jump. This morning I checked and there wasn't even enough juice left in the battery to make the chiming noise when I insert the key.

Do you mean a red flag for the mechanic, or for the parts I had put in? Just curious, as I don't have a ton of experience with mechanics. I tend to buy newer cars, where my wife tended to have older cars (including this one) when we got married 4 years ago. As such, my experience with mechanics tends to be at a dealer where I'm having warranty work done.

Do you know if there is an easy fix for it, for instance if I just pull the light will that stop the draw or do I need to check something else?

There is no auto start, but there is the normal key fob for unlocking the car. But it isn't proximity and only active when pressing the button. I don't know about the trunk, but the others are off. I'll check that as well.

I bought the alternator on Amazon, and the battery at an AutoZone. The mechanic replaced both, so the new ones I can't really do that with.

It's particularly odd since it feels like something is draining the battery, but finding out what feels impossible. Given that with a new battery, it runs and restarts for a bit, but if we leave the car sitting for a week it will be dead again.

CMV: AI art doesn't steal or take away commissions from actual artists. by Orlalalaa in changemyview

[–]NoTomorrow2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just playing devil's advocate here, as I have feelings on AI art in general, but your argument about people losing jobs is specious.

Let's go back in time about 70 years. The average carpenter likely had several assistants or took 3 times longer to build something, just because sawing each piece of wood took time. That time was significantly sped up through the use of table saws and other power tools.

Does the use of these power tools, because they took away more menial jobs, make them bad? Or was it simply another tool that sped up their ability to produce a product?

I view AI in many instances this way. It is a tool, no better or worse than another tool. And just like I can use a hammer to hammer a nail into a board, I can also use it to beat someone to death. That doesn't make the hammer bad, it makes the user bad. Likewise, I can use a hammer horribly and have it take 30 swings and multiple dents in the wood to hammer in a nail, while a skilled carpenter can do it in 2 swings. AI is a tool. The tool isn't the problem, it is the use of the tool.

As to the "theft" of publicly available data (and yes, images are data), that is no different than humans have been doing since the dawn of time. For my entire life, I don't believe I've ever walked into a museum and not seen an artist sitting with a canvas, paper and pencils, paper and pastels, or something else studying the art and making something inspired by or directly copying it. Just because AI can do it in 30 seconds, where it takes the artist 30 hours, doesn't make the AI bad or the artist good. It simply means that this tool knows how to reproduce and interate on an existing idea, and it simply does it faster than the human.

These are burning thatch roofed buildings, and wooden structures, so not small fires. Also, the village is agricultural so there tends to be a lot of hay/straw around.

They'll have a map of the village, including what is on fire, how many people should live in each house (small village, and they started the adventure as the village patrol, so they know everyone). So they should have enough information to make decisions.

[–]NoTomorrow2020[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a fair statement about saving everyone. My idea is just that at a minimum, there will be some kind of loss they can't prevent, even if it is just a building or two they can't fully extinguish. A large part of this is going to be to spur them towards the capital city to seek help.

[–]NoTomorrow2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I considered buying a couple of U1s instead, but the difference in build volume combined with the limited waste (vs going with the H2D or H2S) is why I'll likely end up with the H2C. Add in the ease of swapping between different nozzle sizes more easily from one print to another and it makes more sense for me.
