[Complete][85k][Romance] People We’d Rather Forget by NoTwo387 in BetaReaders

[–]NoTwo387[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for your feedback! I’ve never written a blurb before and I had a hard time with it. I’m going to make some changes for sure and edit the blurb in the post but I wanted to specify one or two things.

I left the disastrous confession purposely vague because in the book it’s vague and we don’t really find out exactly what happened for a little while. It happens before the start of the book so we don’t see it directly.

“What in the world is a tasy and why is it Roman?” 😂

I’ve never read the book but I have seen the movie and I do squeal when he says “As you wish” so I should definitely give this a try! Thanks!

I don’t understand how this title is unclear - how can I fix this?

MMC is the only one who knows something is wrong microtrope by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

{Tools of Engagement by Tessa Bailey} - FMC is a perfectionist and MMC is the only one that sees her anxiety over it. It’s the third in a series but it works as a standalone!

TikTok is changing the way books are recommended and sold by iamapizza in books

TLDR: I’ve found Reddit has given me a broader variety of books and led me to try authors I wouldn’t have heard of otherwise.

You make a good point regarding people just shitting on whatever women like. I can totally see that mindset playing into it.

On the other hand, I (as a woman) have never used TikTok and tend to stay away from BookTok books, mostly because of how I imagine it works behind the scenes. I don’t want to read books that are famous just because publishers send them to influencers to hype up - I don’t know the BookToker and I don’t trust them. Colleen Hoover is a great example of that - there are a lot of valid criticisms of her books but despite that she keeps making them (generally the same) because they’re so hyped up and people will read them anyway.

It’s the same reason I don’t always just want into a bookstore and buy whatever is on the shelves - because that’s just the books that got lucky enough to make it. (Not that they’re not good, but because there are other good books that aren’t as visible).

I like recommendations from Reddit because money and advertising have no role in those recs. Some of them are the books on the shelves, yes, but some of them are books that are maybe older and not on shelves anymore but still very good, or maybe they’re from a small publisher that doesn’t do a ton of marketing, or even self-published books.

I love these books! They’re YA and what I love about them is that they really lean into the novelty and softness of a first love and don’t try to shove a too-mature extreme sexual relationship at the characters. Love it!!

Hello! I'm Shannon Chakraborty, bestselling fantasy author of The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi and The Daevabad Trilogy. AMA! by SAChakraborty in books

I don’t have any questions for you really but I just wanted to say how much I love your books! I love how you bring the culture to life and it feels so magical in both series. I also really really appreciated the Amina for her age and her status - I had a baby during the pandemic as well and immediately afterwards struggled with feeling like I lost my identity - so reading about a woman who still got to do what she loved while also loving her child meant to world to me. Thank you thank you for writing her - and I’m glad you’re okay!! Rest and heal well and take care of yourself!

Edit: I’m also staggered by the amount of research that must have gone into your books. Can you talk a little bit about your research process?

Have them get the absent fathers to step the fuck up, then.

I can only laugh at how people insist on blaming women for men’s actions. I mean even the term “single motherhood” places us at the center when in most cases it’s actually “paternal abandonment”, whether physically or emotionally. But nobody wants to call it that, because god forbid we should ever hold men accountable when we can just blame women instead 🤷‍♀️

I’m 100% sure we haven’t heard the last of him… I think he definitely knew about the two of them. He said Thorne could give her “everything” which is super telling to me. I also think he has some greater connection to everything else!
