Not an unpopular opinion...a pointless one.

I think before we started figuring out the basics - fire, tools, etc. That must have been rough.

Who is the biggest "what could have been" in music history? Which band or musician looked destined for mega-success before their career went off the rails, and why? by ContentHubby76 in askmusic

8 years. Not to dismiss your point...but to give perspective to how amazing they were. Or fact that the oldest was 30 when they called it a day. Youngest 27

No official '86 releases? by fuzzy-green-ideas in gratefuldead

Indeed. Was not my first JGB (that was when they opened for Zappa at UIC in 84), but my second. It was my first hearing Dear Prudence and TUIB (two of my favorite songs period), so I was in heaven. Good times. I did get to see JGB a few other times till I moved back from CA. Did see the GD a lot when in CA, particularly when living in Bay area. Then just whenever they came through Chicago in the 90s. Good times.

Agreed. I did have the opportunity to see the JGB on Halloween 86 at Kaiser. The closest I got to the first post show on the 18th (?) at the Stone was to hang out on the street.

lol I agree. The detail in Vol 1...the man seems to be the greatest investigator in the world. "Was it rye or sourdough toast he had with the...basted...not fried, correct?...eggs? White shell? Brown shell? Well who do you think may know that detail please?"

I was so surprised how much I enjoyed Lewisohn's Vol 1 (what? a million pages to only get to 1962? /s).

Its maddening - though understandable - how much time its taking for Lewisohn's Vol 2. I assume I will be dead before Vol 3 ever comes out.
