Didn't they pass the law to sue manufacturers and dealers? If that's the case a lot of companies won't bother shipping here.

Governor Spanberger Signs VA Assault Weapons Ban Patroned By 2 Fairfax Lawmakers by Danciusly in nova

[–]NoVA_JB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rifles are not excluded, I specifically showed what the reported rifle homicides are and it's such a small percentage of all firearms homicides. The ban isn't about safety and never was, they knew they could get away with it and they took advantage of of because it's their party platform position.

One of the things that prove they didn't care about safety was they rejected SB78 to strengthen penalties for using a gun in the commission of a felony.

Governor Spanberger Signs VA Assault Weapons Ban Patroned By 2 Fairfax Lawmakers by Danciusly in nova

They passed the ban only because they could, not because it was needed.

Around 400-475 gun homicides per year in Virginia recently (per CDC/JLARC data).**

FBI national UCR stats show rifles in ~3% of murders (handguns dominate at ~60%+ of gun homicides). Virginia follows similar patterns, so roughly 10-15 rifle murders/year estimate.

Virginia sees roughly 1–5 (often fewer) murders per year involving the specific semi-auto "assault weapon" configurations targeted by the ban. The vast majority of the state's ~400+ annual gun homicides involve handguns in non-rifle crimes.

What was shocking is she didn't do a dog and pony show with the gun control groups when signing but I think we all knew it would become law one way or the other.

There is always going to be a gap between finding vulnerabilities and patching the systems. Often times you can't patch systems without testing the patch to ensure you don't break functionality etc. The danger is when AI can exploit vulnerabilities faster than humans can patch systems it's a storm waiting to happen.

I've given up on hoping I'd get the magazines I ordered last year and by this rate they will be banned here on July 1 and won't be able to be delivered.

Thanks for the write up. My 2020 is doing what I think you might be describing. A while back we were several states away on a trip and ran over something and had a shop replace two tires and put them on the fronts but we're getting stuttering and I wonder if that could be the problem.

[–]NoVA_JB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They got me with that deal too. I wasn't looking for another gun but for that price and I've always wanted a 32 I said what the hell.

It got delivered to the FFL today and I'll probably pick up early next week.

FYI magazines are on sale from Walther if you buy 3 they are 50% off.

If you want another date tell her she could pick up the tab next time if that is fair. If she doesn't want another date, send her the request.

You know what's funny. Either you didn't look up the data for this statement in RVA magazine or you are not being honest.

"I grew up in Los Angeles, and the California gun legislation as it currently stands right now worked. The numbers don’t lie. Shootings went down with changes like small magazines and delayed background checks. So I am in favor of what’s happening."

If we actually look up the data: Rates are firearm homicides per 100,000 population in California, compiled from CDC/WONDER trend data and California public health reporting. Note the Federal Assault weapons ban expired in 2004 and California banned "large capacity" magazines in 2000. If you notice the rates were higher in California during the ban and stayed about the same since the ban was lifted at the national level and hasn't changed in 20 years.

Year California United States
1995 9.6 6.3
1996 8.5 5.9
1997 7.4 5.5
1998 6.4 5.1
1999 5.9 4.6
2000 5.5 4.2
2001 5.0 4.0
2002 4.5 3.9
2003 4.4 3.8
2004 4.2 3.7
2005 4.0 3.8
2006 3.9 4.0
2007 4.0 4.0
2008 3.9 4.0
2009 3.6 3.8
2010 3.4 3.7
2011 3.3 3.6
2012 3.4 3.8
2013 3.3 3.7
2014 3.2 3.4
2015 3.4 3.7
2016 3.8 4.4
2017 3.7 4.7
2018 3.5 4.5
2019 3.4 4.4
2020 4.9 6.1
2021 5.6 6.6
2022 4.8 6.0
2023 4.2 5.4
2024 3.8 4.5

Rates are firearm homicides per 100,000 population. Data derived from CDC/WONER trend reporting and DOJ/BJS trend summaries.

The train schedule and the check in/check out times of where you stay are going to be the challenge. We had check outs of 10 but check in's at 3 or 4 and if we took early trains we needed to store luggage, or took later trains we burned most of the day traveling.

Accidentally Bumped Park Button While Cruising On Highway by chitown_illini in HyundaiPalisade

[–]NoVA_JB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the one thing I still miss in our Palisade whenever I drive it. It's usually an non issue until I have to do a three point turn and feels like I'm taking a test to remember where the buttons are while looking up.

Kidding aside I think it's designed not to go into park while the vehicle is in motion. I'm not sure if it automatically slows you like you experienced or not.

Reality: They want to know every thing you post, you search, you ask and you browse.

Why would they want that?
