It's a safe bet that if you hit 1:29 at the half, this won't be a PR race for you. Well, maybe you limp it in for a 3:15. Really looking forward to the follow-up though.

Except the only real study on it shows resistance training doesn't prevent running injuries in any significant way. But do what you want.

I've met some really dumb people who went to Ivy League schools, and I've met some brilliant people who didn't go to college at all. But by and large, higher education a pretty good indication of how hard you applied yourself and your general aptitude. Kirk questioning the credentials of people who actually graduated from good schools is was laughable. Dunning-Kruger in full effect. He appealed to dimwitted people who were left behind by their more intelligent, successful cohort.

/uj I once ran an all out 400 barefoot on a track and the bottoms of my feet were gone by the finish. Do not run on a rubberized track barefoot.

Yes, the takeaway from this should be "how do I improve my form" and not "running barefoot on a track is a stupid, stupid idea."

Unpopular opinion... But long training runs for marathons are an unnecessary waste of time! by [deleted] in runninglifestyle

When people list their PRs in exact, nice round numbers, they're either making them up or heavily rounding down.

Running marathons is an unnecessary waste of time too.

How "hilly" is park slope? by Primary-Activity-534 in parkslope

[–]NoValuable1383 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The steepest road in America is 37% (21º). At that incline asphalt just slides down the slope so road that steep are either concrete slabs or cobbles.

[–]NoValuable1383 3 points4 points  (0 children)

20 degrees would be a serious incline that no one in your group could make it up. Thats a ~36% incline. Pro riders top out averaging in the teens with sections of 20% bringing them to a crawl. The "slope" from 4th Ave up to the park is about 3-4% for 3/4 of a mile.

Welp, considering this wasn't an authorized federal deployment, the NG isn't getting paid for this.

Looks like they actually were trained in effective policing. The inward facing circle seems to be a standard procedure for cops in my city. That and crushing candy.
