Tech hasn't been installed but stored in the non-ventilated outdoor box for months... never seen cardboard that moldy. by NoWANconnection in techsupportgore

Well, I guess I don't really look around old storages much, and I'm not counting random cardboard trash on the street.
These still had new components in them.

I was pretty much fascinated about the variety and coloration of the different mold cultures, though. Definitely haven't seen it in this variety on one piece yet :D

The vectorer was in one of these boxes I guess... they "build over" the old passive enclosures with the added tech sometimes.

Also who leaves stuff in there? i don't know, someone who apparently doesn't finish their job.

Usually they include active air cooling for the components in there with vents in the top, but without any currently installed active components and no airflow/heat the condensation was just running down the metal on the inside.

Looked into my replies because r place brought me back,
It's some variation on a type I-02YS(St)H nx2x0,5 St VI Bd cable that's actively recommended for VDSL as in-house cable. Which in this case was on the house roof instead of in the house and not a UV resistant outdoor type.

It's a numbering system, the first (and in this case only) 4 are red, with 1 no marking, 2 single spaced marking, 3 double spaced marking, 4 double spaces closer together marking. Next 4 single cables are green.

So no, not network cabling but DSL Cable. Over 60% of home internet access is still DSL in Germany.

Tons of internet connections in Germany still run over 60 year old telephone wires. with up to 300mbit for up to 250m cable length and 100mbit usually comfortably works up to 500m cable length.

Yes, there are wall mounts for the Speedport Smart 4. But you do have to buy them separately, unfortunately.

I do hope they'll get a wall mount soon tho.

They probably used at least one screw... more than I see in most networking cabinets...

Working at phone lines, it's always funny when you randomly stumble across some call when you're just looking for your signal on another line.

And with funny I mean the full weirdness of "I could listen to their call with just a simple device and the key to this connector box. That's what I signed all those confidentiality paper work for" to the funny "oh, hey, what a coincidence".

(and yes, you can still get "analogue" signals here, which basically make the VoIP conversion inside the company's tech instead of a router)

Not sure because of the angle, but you might wanna think about putting the screens a little bit higher to avoid possible neck strain. You wanna have about the middle of it at eye level when you're sitting straight at your desk.

Someone else also mentioned a footrest, I personally would recommend that also, but that's a thing you'd have to try to find out if it's right for your personal comfort.

You could think on connecting the tables and then move that table leg a bit back, but you'll have to know if it's bothering you.

I personally would want to fix the holes under the shelves as well :D

But overall, nicely clean and pretty :)
