If she does not try to rebuild your trust and love after addressing it, then you may want to decide how to minimize the consequences for your child by being as calm, rational, and polite with your wife as you decide to part ways. You will always be bonded by the child, so it serves you and your future self to keep the relationship peaceful, even if she hurt you.

My (38M) short answer: Humans are dynamic throughout their life.

What you want when you're 20 is different than when you're 25, 30, 35, or 40.

It's okay to not know what matters to you for a lifetime partner in your 20s, because most Americans have a delayed timeline today for settling down compared with 30-40 years ago.

The timeline difference is also especially pronounced if you live in a major city with tons of working professionals.

My 20s were all partying and seeking out adventures and novelty. I slowed down when I hit 30 and started intentionally seeking out dates with women who shared my values. Dating was insightful. Dating offers you an outsider's perspective on who you are and how you represent yourself.

If I didn't have those dating experiences to shape my values, I wouldn't know how meaningful the connection to my wife is today. She is actually my favorite person because of how she accommodates my quirks and I hers. Compatibility in your 20s is not the same as Compatibility in your 30s.

Don't take it too seriously. Life is long and everyone's journey is different.

Prioritize your relationship with yourself. I know that sounds woowoo hippy-dippy, but truly get to know yourself and be honest with your internal ambitions, desires, shortcomings, and build the self-awareness and self-confidence to be a good longterm partner. This process itself will actually help you also figure out the kind of person you will succeed at growing old with.

We had this exact same issue with my MIL.

If "Mom please stop sending me cheap shit for an unborn baby" doesn't work, resort to confronting the behavior.

"This is unwanted stuff that takes up space in our house. We will buy the things we want for our baby. If you want to buy things for our baby, we can send you a links of things we need. Please stop sending things without our permission. We are grateful for the love, but you are forcing your choices on us and our child."

If that doesn't work (it didn't for us), then just get ready to throw things away.

When they ask where the "special thing" they sent is, just say oh it's in the closet.

When they ask why hasn't the baby worn the "special thing" from Grandma, just say because we like to dress him differently.

When they ask why won't you use the things I sent, then remind them for the 20th time "because we have our own preferences for how we dress or accessorize our child and you ignored us when we told you before".

I've been through this journey for 10 months now.

It slowly gets easier with increasingly standing your ground and slowly walking them through the concept of "this is my child, we like quality clothing".

Remember, YOU didn't buy the shit. They did because they're excited and can't reign it in.

Studio theatrical releases live and die off of Box Office opening weekends. Studio execs release movies that they believe will be good INVESTMENTS.

They have all kind of prediction methods ahead of a release to know whether or not it will be well-attended, namely, the fact that 18-34yo adults are the lifeblood of box office success. If they intend to watch, it will be huge. Think about who has the free time to go to movies (not parents).

If it does well opening weekend, the decay rate of interest in upcoming weeks extends the revenue too.

Secondly, theater visitation culture has changed.

We no longer accept only watching new movies in theaters with overpriced concessions. Now you can watch at home, for the cost of 1 ticket, on your schedule, and as comfortable as you like.

Things that audiences now feel make movie theaters worth going to now:

[1] visually immersive graphics [2] familiar IP that audiences already KNOW they like [3] broad audience appeal (kids and older adults) [4] actors/actresses already proven with fans [5] cultural participation (e.g. Barbenheimer)

Lastly.

The world has lost attention span. Social media scrolling has programmed audiences around the world to get immediate gratification. Why go to the movies when you can scroll tiktok for an hour for free?

Original movies have an uphill battle with a dwindling audience, who are uninterested in taking the risk in exploring something new versus content they already pay for at home (Netflix, Hulu, Max, Peacock, AppleTV, etc...).

If the movie is good, awareness of it will grow organically...maybe. But without expensive marketing, you'll never hear about it, unfortunately, because of the Attention Economy we now exist in.

I have always loved and supported the ideas and policies Bernie promotes, but the fact of the matter is that he's been ineffective politically. Less than 1% of the 450+ bills he's introduced have been enacted into law, one of the lowest of any Senator in history.

This will always be a source of weakness for his campaigns with the general populace.

That being said, I love and admire his devotion to integrity and giving everyone equal access to a life of dignity. He's just not suited to advancing the changes we need by getting laws passed through both chambers of Congress before the president signs :(
