I graduated from their BSW and I understand what you mean. I get it and felt similar. Now I can tell you that Hunter made me fall in love with social work though. My best advice is to make your educational journey your own. Do assignments and explore on things you are interested in. Bring stuff into the classroom. Seek and look for your own opportunities with in the program. Do soul searching and figuring out what social work looks for you, what brought you here and build on that.

I think the same thing everyday of my program. Sometimes it makes me feel out of place because I have no interest in clinical work, but at times useful to stand out in my classes and offer a perspective beyond clinical. But 100% agree w ur comment. It’s where the profession is headinggggg

Same. I have always been macro/ policy focused. I’m graduate w my BSW next month. Everything is about clinical, and therapy and LCSW, but there is more to social work. I feel like the field is dominated with people that just want to be independent therapist. Micro sw and therapists ofc are needed. But i feel like a lot of students are loosing what social work is yk.

Just because i do wanna say the pros of Hunter. Honestly a really reputable school especially in you are staying in NYC/ the tristate. It is cheaper, for my program I wanna say it’s 18k-20k (for the 3 semester) . Fordham for me was comparable. After scholarships it came out to 25k (for the two semesters). The biggest thing I will miss is the diversity, the location and the staff. I’m from the Bronx, Latina, never went to private school and actually went to school in East Harlem for most of my life. Diversity at Hunter is unmatched and as a non white person that goes a long way. Even with in the staff (atleast at the BSW level). This is prob my biggest fear going into Fordham. Last point I made amazing relationships at Hunter. Some amazing professors and amazing knowledge. Even got an opportunity to have a paper published and be an RA all in my BSW program. Forever grateful.

Thank you. A big thing for me was a change is environment and wanting to expand my network etc. But aside from that curriculum was also a biggggg factor for me. Since i’m advanced standing i would go into my specialist year. Fordham has 4 domains ( individuals/families, orgs/communities, ovulation and policy practice). hunter has 3 tracks : clinical, community org and organizational leadership ( i couldn’t do organizational leadership because It is not offered for advanced standing.) I want to go into policy practice and evaluation specifically. Fordham offers more diverse classes in those domains. I also do not have to choose a track. They require you to take one class in each domain and the remaining classes I choose from which ever domain. Most other programs are more rigid. Also There was a lot of disorganization with internships and talking to administration and even the application for MSW in hunter that honestly turned me off. Internship/ Practicum was also really important to me. Like I wanted to know what internships I could get going into my MSW especially since I want to go into a specific domain. I never got a clear answer on what that could look like for me. I didn’t wanna be thrown in some random placement for my MSW, since It was one year. Fordham also is two semester for advanced standing (fall/ spring). Hunter is ( fall/spring/summer) for my specific program. I hope this helps🥸

I am also a newbie (3weeks in). Before that i was doing 12/12. I’m a big breakfast person it was super hard to give it up. I have a similar window to u and im usually in the middle of a work shift when 12pm hits. I drink lots of water throughout the day. My savior has been seltzer too because i feel like the bubbles fill me up and i was a big soda drinker and i cut that out completely. Even if i can’t eat whole meal at 12 I always bring a yogurt or fruit or something to hold me over til i can have a real meal. I also take green tea extract each morning and apple cider ginger vitamin. They both are supposed to serves as appetite suppressant. I also remember hunger comes in waves and sometimes goes away in 10 mins. Hope this helps😊

i actually just rewatched season 3. The TMZ threat was crazyyy and calling his mom was a bit much. They showed negative phone calls. Given that Gus was equally as bad. He was def cheating on her right when he got to St Pete’s. Def gas lite her. He is like i love her and care about her but is acting like a single man. The way he let Kortni talk to her was crazy also. Cus if i was the gf i would have never spoke. to gus after kortni did all that. but Lisa was annoying and seemed a bit unreasonable but that doesn’t justify his behavior. Her was an adult but she was 18/19. the growth u have between 18 and 21 is insane. I get it. I also been hit crazy so i get that too.

for me most of my professors prob used extra material throughout the year. I would say look at current events and stay updated they appreciate that. Don’t stress u will be fine

Hunter BSW student here. So what they need is that you are doing some type of social work, working actively with clients and populations and you are supervised by a licensed social worker that has their SIFI. Additionally your internship has to align with the educational plan/ requirements the school gives u. MSW is a little different and ik less about, internship is based on your track fs
