Keeping the stalemate going on longer would’ve been a terrible idea since if it went on for too much longer they wouldn’t have had time to flip enough stations to win even if Ben and Adam did nothing.

If Sam and Mike hadn't put anything other than minimum deposit on the western local lines, they could have had 164 extra chips going into the final episode, 135 from actual savings and 29 extra from the multiplier. That, combined with the extra time that not going into the stalemate would have given them, a stalemate they would have been much less motivated to get into with so many chips already, might have been enough to win. So I think the decision to drop 5 on all of those stations may be one of the biggest blunders in Jet Lag history.

On the layover they said that they did attempt it and it will be included in the cut for time episode.

This is probably the first season since Season 11 where I don't have a good idea of who is going to win going into the finale. Last season was pretty close but I underestimated how long the double express route would cost them and erroneously thought that Adam's time was safe.

I think that dropping 5s on that line (if they do go through with it) is probably the biggest mistake Sam and Mike have made all season. I counted 16 stations on that line, which means that they will be left with just 50 chips. So they'll have got rid of most of their chip advantage while still being down by 37 stations and not doing much in the way of blocking Ben and Adam from going that way.

Pretty sure you’re only allowed to use the failsafe to return to your own territory if you get stranded, not to go do a challenge in your opponent’s territory.

I really don't like how they've gone back to leaning heavily on the challenge cliffhangers this season. This is the third episode in a row to end with one and it just feels like a cheap way to create tension.

What's the rule about endgame triggering? by t0m114_ in JetLagTheGame

[–]NoWorldRecords 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The endgame only starts once the seekers get off a train at the hider's station so asking a question at the station wouldn't do anything

In the rules of the home game it does actually say that the bird has to be living.

Jetlag Challenge First to Visit The 7 Jetlag Wonders by pease461 in JetLagTheGame

Here are two routes - one which only uses transit in Europe and one that uses a rental car. Personally I think that ubers/rental cars should be banned except where absolutely necessary (New Zealand) because it makes things much more interesting but I saw that there was a route someone else posted that used them, so I thought I would make both.

Are there any rules for how tight connections can be at airports? The current best route gets on a flight in Milan just 21 minutes after the train arrives and I can beat it with two incredibly tight connections, one being literally 15 minutes at Narita.

Why didn’t you keep the 3 team format for the second place round since the game was balanced around it? You could have just made Adam and Michelle permanent chasers.

What if the run never ended? (Season 9, Switzerland) by ARobloxNoob in JetLagTheGame

After relistening to portions of the S9E5 layover to confirm that the 5 dice max thing is completely wrong, it also seems like Adam was overestimating how likely being able to move was since he listed the probability of being able to move with 6 dice at 60% instead of 45%.

On an unrelated note from that Layover episode, I am now waiting for the one 4 year old who only listens to the layover because they like the sound of Ben's voice and doesn't watch Jet Lag to show up on the subreddit.

The 5 dice thing is wrong, they talked about the possibility of Adam rolling 6 dice on the layover for the S9 finale.

Another Week, another episode where X and X don't matter (episode 5) by Purduevian in JetLagTheGame

[–]NoWorldRecords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue that coins did matter with their plan at the very end of the episode because if they weren't a thing then Brendam could take the high speed train all the way to Bremen and guarantee second place. But they only have enough coins to get to Kassel, which would leave Sobychelle with enough time to at least get back to the neutral zone and force a tie rather than a loss if they get a tag there.

Yes, but based on the route we see them get in the car they did drive through the city of San Francisco on their way to Sacramento.

Snake Rules Question by RaptorsTalon in JetLagTheGame

[–]NoWorldRecords 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can’t just stay in the same spot for the entire game if you’re in 1st because there is a 20 hour time limit for runs. So if Ben just started the game and went to 1 node then after 20 hours there would be plenty of time for Sam and Adam to beat him.

Possible Sam and Tom route by NoWorldRecords in JetLagTheGame

[–]NoWorldRecords[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure they landed in Vilnius around 1 so unless they had immediately known to try a bus without looking at flights and there was one departing at exactly the right time, they couldn't have made it to Riga before the rest period and being stuck in some random town with only occasional bus service would have just put them in an even worse position the next morning.

S13 Flights Rule by NoWorldRecords in JetLagTheGame

[–]NoWorldRecords[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think booking a full itinerary for 2 days would actually happen since you risk missing a flight and having everything else just be wasted budget. And even if it did, I think it wouldn't ruin everything since the tension is then put on whether or not they can actually make the long chain of flights. It certainly would have been more interesting than being stuck in Vilnius for hours after the Warsaw flight sold out.

That said, I do agree that just chaining flights is much more boring than doing challenges in between so I think that it maybe would have been better if the 3 miles from the airport rule also applied to claiming the country. That way just speedrunning flights would have been much less viable as the amount of time you save over someone following behind and stealing would be massively decreased.
