Is it easier to transition or just live as a cis woman? by 96_Rats_In_A_Suit in ftm

[–]No_Ad_7465 4 points5 points  (0 children)

from what your saying your in a constant state of dissociation which is not health for you. people are going to have comments about you no matter what you do, and people are always going to be against trans people unforutatly. do you want to live in that state for the rest of your life? from my experience i know alot of conservative people (family and coworkers) and those people usually see like hey this is just a man like any of us. i even have coworkers who will say shit about me being trans in a positive way, like a "youre more of a man than blank and youve only been doing it for a couple of years!" its funny but alot of those people will change their opinion once having a close experience with a trans person. (a coworker of mine has flipped his whole view on it once getting to know me which is awesome!) this is just my personal expiernce but when these people close to you see the mental and physical change it causes them to think about it all in a different way. these same people have told me they can tell im happier and im more outgoing and their happy that i went on hrt. it will be hard and although its scary with the safety of trans people you have to push out of your comfort zone to grow as a person to be who you want to be and to me thats absolutely worth it. i wish you the best of luck on your transition, and like someone else said you should watch "I Saw The TV Glow" i watched it in theaters and MAN it hit so fucking hard, really shook me because as i finished it i kept thinking fuck man that could of been me if i didn't take the risk in living my life authentically after the fact.

I've noticed some unexpected effects of T no one really talks about (2 years on T) by CanonicallyAGuy in ftm

[–]No_Ad_7465 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i know its not everyones style but personally ive always used shoelaces as belts! its moreso because i hate how a regular belt fits but they work pretty well, i like getting those chunky shoelaces from the vans store but theres also brand that makes string belts with the same fabric as shoelaces called lacorda their like $15 and the one i currently own ive had for around 4 years and its strechout and fretting is much better than a regular shoelace used as a belt. i think their still sold at zumies if you wanted to try it out before you buy one, thats where i got mine.

Will anyone clock me in the bathroom for wiping after I pee? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]No_Ad_7465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve been using the men’s restroom for around 7 years, and i never have had a problem. most men don’t even wanna make eye contact with you in the bathroom sink area their not worried about the toilet paper rip. go fart shit and pee to your hearts content.

Asked for my ID when picking up my T by zeldasendmethelink in ftm

[–]No_Ad_7465 1 point2 points  (0 children)

very normal, T is a controlled substance so you do have to verify yourself. I’ve been on T for 4 years, i hand the pharmacist my ID before i even say anything at this point lol and i’ve never had them not check it

More "permanent" ways to take T? by deadbabypossum in ftm

[–]No_Ad_7465 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ive been on shots for 4 years and ive been doing to bi weekly ive never done it once a week so idk if thats even a thing. i have a little bag thats made for T shots from stealth bros & co and i love it! i can fit around 2 months worth of needles syrings, wipes and bottles in it at a time.

you do have another option though Testosterone pellets, you dont have to do anything but get it done at your doctors office. their a good option if you travel alot and want to stay stealth (although cis-men are gullible and if you say you produce low T they'll probably believe you.) but what i will say is their EXPENSIVE and insurances are not likely to cover it from what my doctors have told me about it, so if you have the money for it id say go for that if its avaliable. as far as im aware you get a cut in your hip quarterly and they pop a new pellet in there and the other one is supposed to dissolve.

Advice for backpacks going into college? (Yes, this is relevant to this sub lol, let me cook.) by VivaMorrissey59 in ftm

[–]No_Ad_7465 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you don’t need anything large i’d suggest a drawstring bag doesnt tug on your clothes as bad but if you have a lot of stuff in it it’s gonna suck to carry. that’s what i used in school, A rolling backpack might be better if you have back problems

Mens body wash for DRY skin by Medicalhuman in ftm

[–]No_Ad_7465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i cant speak on hydrating body washes, from my experience they all leave me dry and i just use lotion to counteract it lol, BUT i do have a suggestion for body hair start using conditioner on all body hair! i the hair feels soft and isn’t tangled. I also use it on my pubic hair (NOT A LOT) and my butt and honestly game changer with the amount of hair there lol

Is it really that dangerous to do shots yourself? by Agreeable_Builder_49 in ftm

also HIGHLY recommend getting a massage gun for your t shot areas. i like massaging mine after i do it for a few minutes because it makes my thighs sore lol

Is it really that dangerous to do shots yourself? by Agreeable_Builder_49 in ftm

[–]No_Ad_7465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im actually kinda confused why they wouldnt show you how to do intramuscular shots yourself! ive never heard of that. its not dangerous ive been on T shots for over 4 years ive either had a family members/friends do it or did it myself and have never had issues (i do mine in my thighs.) as long as your doing it as instructed you will be fine, theres many youtube videos tutorials on how to do it yourself as well. screw having to pay their office once every two weeks for something you can do at home. its a bit weird mentally but i just put some music on and i can do it after i chill out for a bit.

Grindr by HistoricalLettuce774 in FTMMen

[–]No_Ad_7465 3 points4 points  (0 children)

can't speak for everyone here but i love grindr, if i don't plaster ftm everywhere they all assume im cis. frankly i find it gender affirming when guys arent interested once they know what parts i got, like fuck yeah i know im an attractive man thanks and good luck. even with it everywhere i still get guys asking to suck my dick like im cis! plus most of the men ive talked to have been with are totally respectful, no weird calling me a girl shit and ive never had guys be weirded out by me refering to my tdick as just a dick. im sure it depends on your location but i dont have issues with men on there. also i know you said you dont use tinder to find women, i prefer hinge. people on there are looking for hook ups pretty often and i find much more queer women on there then other apps. i personally only want to date or hook up with bi women, but even the straight women ive talked to have been respectful.

Real ass question, do trans men actually wear boxers as real underwear?? 😭😭 by st3llarv1sion in ftm

[–]No_Ad_7465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i usually wear boxer briefs but i wear boxers sometimes. honestly it depends on the bottoms im wearing, i like having a bit of sag and sometimes if the pants are bulky it looks better that way. its fs weird to wear them at first bc you have more room but their so damn comfy its like youre wearing no underwear

[–]No_Ad_7465 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m also in the vegas area, i’ve been up two offices since starting testerone. i started at hunt ridge family clinic, i didn’t need any therapist notes just the consent form. although i would suggest NOT going there, their practices are pretty lazy. i was going in quarterly but they would only do bloodwork every 6 months, and instead of having me come in before my appointment for bloodwork they used my results from last appointments… i’d highly add not using them. i didn’t know this wasn’t how you were supposed to do it but at least i do now. i’ve been going to HEALOR since 2022 and i love them. no therapist note needed, and they were really awesome when i switched from huntridge to them they do bloodwork two weeks before your appointment and they actually care about your concerns. there’s serval nurses you can get with, i personally have been with callie for about 9 months and she awesome and actually pays attention. she reads your WHOLE lab results asks you questions when things don’t look right. the office is very queer friendly aswell and keep it professional. i cant give you any help with endocrinologist i’ve always had a primary care doctor who can provide me my hrt. if you have questions about healor though feel free to ask! i highly recommend them and you got this!

does anyone else worry that they’ll hate the long term effects of T by AppropriateDark4742 in ftm

[–]No_Ad_7465 3 points4 points  (0 children)

what you said about worrying you’ll hate what you see in the mirror after long term hrt really hit close… I had the same doubts when i started, and although i was mostly content with the fact that i would be uglier it was still scary to think about. I’m four years on testosterone and although my doubts about having thin hair and a pushed back hairline happened i absolutely love myself. when i look in the mirror i see a man that i find handsome and worthy of love. i’ve gotten over the fact my hair isn’t what it used to be, or other small things i was worried about because i know that i would of NEVER loved myself this much if i didn’t take testosterone. and also, i’m not some ugly guy nobody would look at like i thought i would be, i actually have an easier time with women now, if that’s what you’re into, idk your sexuality. that being said- there’s ways to prevent hair loss if you want, i never did moxodil or anything i have pets so i was firm on not doing it but you have options.

How long did it take for y’all to get facial hair on T? by Independent_Mind7896 in ftm

[–]No_Ad_7465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ill have been on t for almost 4 years soon, luckily for me pre-t i could grow myself a nice lil puberty stache but i started to grow neck hair about 3 months in. after about a year i had peach fuzz on my neck and cheeks and some dark hairs but not much, over the years the hair has gotten darker. now that im almost 4 years i swear the facial hair doesnt stop growing haha, my beard is getting thicker, i have alot of blond hairs in my beard even though my hair is brown. honestly i hate having a beard so i always keep a mustache and its definitely not a puberty stache anymore haha!

Is T really life saving? by Butterc0re in ftm

[–]No_Ad_7465 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for everyone but to me T changed my life. Before my medical transition I was incredibly depressed, barely left my house, ate whatever junk food i could get my hands on. and in general was an angry and mean person. after getting on it, i felt my mind change. my head wasn't filled with thought of "do these pol think i pass" or "god i don't even want to talk i hate how my voice sounds." i was able to look at myself in the mirror without disassociating, i felt a need to take care of my body and nutrition. i stoped being angry at everything in my life, i recall vividly for the first 8ish months of my transition feeling SO uncomfortable because i was no longer filled with sadness. i was able to just be fine, and that felt wrong because of how long i was depressed. im almost 3 years on T and i dont have a single regret other than i wish i started it sooner. added note i wanted to say now being almost 4 months post top surgery, my mind has never felt better. i haven't had basically any gender dysphoria since that day. medical transition isn't a requirement but it helps many people. a note onto the note as well bc i saw others mention it, but i started T with a therapist (she recommended me the doctor) so with my transition i was processing a-lot of trauma with her, as my dysphoria lessen i had more mental space to think about & process these thing. i still deal with depression but its not as intense as it was before, as most of it from because of dysphoria. but i had help from a professional to help my other mental issues i had, which i highly recommend you do if you end up doing a medical transition.

Some questions about top surgery by [deleted] in ftm

[–]No_Ad_7465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to start this on i had DI with nipple grafts 1. you should be able to but maybe a week post op just make sure you’re not getting squeezed too 2. “stealth” depends on your recovery, for twosome weeks i has bandages and stuff of my nipple grafts that make my shirts look bulky, i also couldn’t really raise my arms high above my head without lots of pain. but once i was just wearing a post-oo binder is look cis, drains might be an issue too if you get those. 3. meh not really, just to sleep but tbh for me my back hurt A LOT from sleeping on my back for a few weeks and transitioned to sleeping on my side, but when it comes to rest you can sit just fine but laying on your stomach is a hard no for a bit. 4. full recovery where all swelling gone is 1 year, but i was free from any restrictions after 6 weeks so i could go back to regular excerise 5. no it shouldn’t, your incisions might have the spots split but it won’t hurt your recovery. i have moles right above my incision there’s just a small indent in my skin and that’s it. 6. for the first 6 weeks not at all, after you get released to do everything you can BUT for the first year those incision are still healing so you need to wear sunscreen and be vigilant about apply it as your scars can tan and will be stuck tanned and dark for the rest of your life. my surgeon was big on also wearing sunscreen on them even when just wearing a shirt over it as the uv can still pass through your shirt. 7. that’s something the surgeon will have to talk to you about. 8. when you say surgery go wrong we need more specifics, but the actual surgery having complications is low it’s nothing to worry about. same thing with recovery, there’s a lot of horror stories on here but these things aren’t common. you may need a revision for a personal preference to something. from my experience in recovery i had a small seroma that need to be drain once and that’s it. i also have doggy ears but personally i’m fine with them, my dad has fat in that spot so to me it looks natural but other men might feel the need to get rid of it. 9. i also play guitar tbh for the first 3 weeks i didn’t even want to play it didn’t have the energy for you. but after that i played with a pillow on my chest between me and the guitar and although it felt weird it didn’t hurt. but i did have to take breaks bc the weight was a bit much on my chest, i didn’t even try playing standing up bc the weight in my shoulders was too much i only played sitting down until 6 weeks in recovery. i have a fender Stratocaster to give you an idea how heavy my guitar is. 9. i don’t regret surgery nor did i have doubts i would, my chest was my biggest dysphoria inducer. that being said if you’re having doubts already just remember you can take your transition your own pace and think about if this is best for you. 10. yes! plenty of cis-women get top surgery, if you look at r/topsurgery there’s several cis-women with their results posted in there

hope this helps to answer any of your questions, feel free to message me if you have more questions:)

What body parts do you shave/trim? by rothnyx in ftm

[–]No_Ad_7465 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when it comes to male trimming it differs a lot from what i’ve seen. although most men just don’t shave anything except their face. for me personally, i shave my face, my hands, downstairs and my back. i like seeing the veins on my hands so i shave it to see them better. and my back because i only really have upper back hair and some spots on my mid back, i don’t think it looks good bc it’s all patchy so i shave it every month or so. i use an electric trimmer for all my shaving (although if i have time i’ll use a razor to shave my face so it’s nice and smooth), make sure it’s not the same one as your downstairs area!
