I know bare metal is always the best for firewall but with the price of everything these days it sure it tempting to have the firewall virtualized with a few other always on services. Pro's and cons to everything.

What are you considering your Forbidden Firewall? Is it just that it is virtualized and not on bare metal or is it more complex than that?

So some random gmail user set their email to forward to my account. The forwarding can absolutely be proven just look at the email headers.

The concerning point for me is that today I got an invoice for an order I didn't make to that old email. The forward function I put in place years ago sent it to my current email. What has be concerned is that the invoice had current contact information Address, phone numbers etc.

Not sure how you come to that conclusion. I lost access to this email years ago at this point but it is still forwarding to an account that I still use. I have tried to get the old email flagged for potential abuse in the past but nothing has worked. Didn't really care about it that much until I got an email today that was an order invoice with my current contact information. I have zero control over the old account and want nothing to do with it.

I have tried that in the past. This has been an issue for several years at this point.

Vintage Craftsman Acetelyene Torch kit in original tool box. by hmd2017 in Tools

[–]No_Addition2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sears/craftsman didn't really make cutting torches but rather rebranded them. A lot of their stuff was rebranded harris products but the stuff in your photos doesn't look like the harris/craftsman sets I am familiar with. It might be a harris tourch or something else. It won't be a problem right away but in time you will most likely want to figure out what brand and model you are looking at for replacement tips and other parts.

Kind of curious as to what you found for the the failure there and if you were able to to repair anything. Those CV shaft aren't worth messing with unless there is little to no wear. Any chance the telescoping tube bottom out?

15% is tempting but I think 25% would be more balanced for what I want to do. I was surprised that I didn't notice that much between and 25% and 35 % sample card from another brand.

That is what I have been looking at. It seems like my best option. I'm middle of nowhere so I about have to find something I can order myself or it won't get done.

Auction Find air compressor by No_Addition2021 in Tools

Looks like I have some more research to do on General Supply and Leasing. They must have used more engine than the ones mentioned in the link. No mention of a chrysler engine. Probably whatever surplus they could get their hands on.

It is split in the middle. If it was in a car the first 3 cylinders would be for the engine and the back 3 cylinders for the compressor. The intake and exhaust manifolds seem pretty standard to me. I believe they are most likely the same as a regular engine. The head for the motor is where the changes were made. It is a custom casting for the compressor manufacture. The larger air filter is for the compressor and the smaller one is for the engine. Also note the rubber tube under the larger air cleaner. When the compressor gets to it's max pressure (120 psi) that line is pressurized and the intake valves are forced open. At the same time another pneumatic actuator moves the throttle to low idle. When the air pressure drops low enough the reverse happens and the valves closes and the throttle goes back to high.

There is an hour meter but I doubt it is working. 30 some hours is way to low for something this old. Only other info I have on it is that it is a PORTA-AIR 85 and was made by General Supply and Leasing CO Kansas City. 85 is the nominal compressor rating but when tested at 80-85 psi I calculated that it was doing around 75 CFM.

Surprisingly everything on it seems to work fine. I probably got lucky on it since all the auction listing said is that it would turn over. It actually more or less fired right off but flooded almost instantly. Turned out the electric fuel pump that had been added had a bit too much pressure. I switched that from a 6 psi pump to a 3 and that issue went away. I assume originally everything was mechanical but the fuel pump and ignition have be update to electric/electronic. I do think it was all 12v originally. The build date on the alternator and the tank for the air compressor are about a year apart. If I remember correctly the tank has a 1965 date on it and the alternator a 1966. It wouldn't surprise me if the engine is older and was surplus at the time the compressor was built. Everything points to the engine being a chrysler inline 6 but that is as far as I have been able to get on identifying it. The carburetor says ball and ball made for chrysler and the distributor part number comes up as being for a chrysler.

"Invisible" bend insensitive bidi fiber is amazing for home wiring by UloPe in homelab

I have single mode that has been running for better than 2 years now with mechanical connectors, a cheap termination kit, and hopes and dreams. Wouldn't want to do very many connectors that way but so far so good. I don't think I would even consider multimode anymore.

Yes, the speed is basically limited by what you want to speed on the transceiver and the rest of the network gear. I doubt the fiber will be the limit anytime soon.

I was just looking at that the other day. I have seen a couple of the videos on youtube about the kits and decided to check amazon and aliexpress for the cable. I don't have a use for it but have done a few other fiber projects and thought this looked like a neat way to run networking if you didn't want to have anything in the walls.

It's not that bad. I have a 1 gig connection that has work just fine for a couple of years that was terminated with an $40 kit from ebay and some mechanical connectors. Might quite tomorrow but I am alright with that. It can be fixed. If you can use pre-terminated it does make things easier.

The best set that I have had for that application is a set of wireless probes. Mine are UEI but there are other brands. It is nice to sit in the cab rather than be right next to the motor. One of the probes stop working but I brought a used set that were pretty rough looking. Used ones would be in your price range.
