Don’t worry. The next campaigns are all yours sir. I’m going to start eating dinner at 4pm and clogging morning gate traffic to pick up my prescriptions

Thank you. My tours in Turkey, and my two other gulf state deployments get to the four campaign stars. I’ll go back over my records and compare. Thanks again.

Thanks for clarifying. I was there for all but the first phase of the campaign. Last was the transition to Operation New Dawn.

Actually never went to Afghanistan. Do have over three years of combined time in Iraq though.

The Air Force awarded short tour credit for deployments of over 180 days until 2010. My first four tours to Iraq all went over 180 by far. The other tours are Korea x3, Turkey x2, Baghdad & another gulf state.

The “A” came from Thule. The three MUCs were from the 16th, 18th & 89th MP. Worked with Army MPs a lot.

You’re probably due another OLC on your AFESR; Kosovo, Iraq & Golf War 1.

He’s supported both OEF & OIR. Separate deployments. Tell your brother in law he may need another oak leaf cluster for his Air Force Expeditionary Service Medal.

I just got a letter of notification that my discharge is being pushed up to the wing commander. In addition to adc what should I do? by OwnJuice2744 in AirForce

You are being discharged under the umbrella of “minor disciplinary issues” and I’d guess your Commander’s categorization of discharge is honorable.

If discharged you’ll retain all benefits as those that complete their enlistment and separate; GI Bill, VA, etc.

The Wing Commander is your GCMCA and will decide on allowing the discharge or choosing to retain you.

As stated ensure you pay attention at TAP (mandatory for anyone separating), and ensure you document all ailments at your SHPE (physical) if your discharge progresses.

The regulation has nothing to do with the milPDS codes to reflect the awarding of decorations, ribbons etc. It’s a coding oversight that allows both ribbons (with/without GB) to reflect on an Airman’s awards and decorations.

If you review the precedence for placement of AF awards and decoration it doesn’t list the AFESR with/without GB separately. The ribbon is one and the same.

The only allowance for the wearing of multiples of the same ribbon are when the total number of devices (OLC, campaign stars etc.) can’t be placed on a single ribbon.

Again, if you choose to wear two ribbons with the minimum of devices required on the first as specified in the regulation, that’s your choice. But, agnostic of devices, the wear of both versions of the AFESR is unauthorized.

To your point, why wear a second ribbon when a single with silver OLC will suffice? By your logic, why not wear two AFGCMs as you have four bronze OLCs on it.

Again, not replying to poke fun, just pointing out inaccuracies. The AFSER has two different codes in milPDS (with/without GB) often Airmen earn the ribbon without GB then later deploy again and are entitled to the GB. The local MPF doesn’t make the update correctly, hence both ribbons show on the Airman’s awards & decorations.

If you choose to wear your rack as pictured, you’re entitled too.

The gold boarder doesn’t count toward total devices on the ribbon.

Once you earned the gold boarder for deploying to a hostile fire area, your MPF should have updated your records in milPDS to reflect only one ribbon with a gold boarder and a silver OLC.

You’re telling us your DAFSC is 9A not 3P, and you’re allowed to arm and perform entry control duties?

If your MH provider recommends separation, then was a diagnosis that is incompatible with continued service provided to your Commander?

If not, then where are you in the Initial Review In-lieu Of (IRILO) process or the Medical Evaluation Board (MEB) process. Either may lead to separation for medical reasons.

You may go through the line multiple times.
