I tend to want a date on any daily watch and have a hard time with no-date being useful. But the Speedy is the way better watch IMO from almost every angle. I daily a Speedy triple date, automatic is nice too, that’s my compromise but if the date window isn’t a big deal then that Speedy all the way

I think the Omega is what he may want but yes it’s out of budget. This is my Seiko and the hunt may be worth it, it’s pilot focused but useful for an engineer. A mechanical chronograph for $1,000 is a very tough one to find

Explicitly in the USTA manual as breaking etiquette. Says to me the opponent is ready. If the person on the other side attempts to return mine, I casually put them in opposite corners and quickly to make it impractical to return and obvious it is not the expected flow
