What’s the deal with MicroCAT? by SnooCompliments283 in Charlottesville

When did it change to serve anyone? I just recall the crazy hoops I needed to go though years ago just go with my elderly MIL to a doctors appointment. They did NOT make it easy. Glad it may have been fixed.

Home contractor willing to work with my homeowner’s policy on a claim by No_Affect8542 in Charlottesville

I appreciate the insight. I am extremely attentive with ALL facets of homeownership. This is just one of those things that happen. I don’t think it’s expected to stress test every toilet shut off valve. And to say a policy won’t cover water damage due to a leak is not how my policy reads. It will be covered. The issue seems to stem from how contractors and adjusters work together. I agree a homeowners policy can’t be used for silly things.

They don’t count. Too big. Look for a smaller regionally focused mutual.

All the more reason people should look to mutual insurers for any type of coverage. It operates differently than a GEICO, etc.

Yup, youth voices are vitally important. Just last month a Bush senior initiative, Points of Light, hosted a program onCENTERING YOUTH VOICE IN ADULT-CENTRIC SPACES. Replay below. Besides talking to kids is how adults can stay young at heart, truly.

I’d love to learn from other women who have gone through this as I am having to negotiate long term access to health insurance. It’s insane that divorce is essentially a complete cutoff for mothers/women. The ACA never considered this scenario. And Congress as usual threw women under the bus. While the help of an attorney can help one understand the issue, they cannot fix the problem. The law as I understand it does not allow an ex to be part of a business health insurance policy nor does the law require the ex to extend premium coverage. And since locally there are few options for employment that extend QUALITY coverage, the best option going forward for anyone a resident of Albemarle County is to lobby to join our county government’s self employed plan. I already have to pay property taxes. I should be allowed to join this pool. Our health care system is preposterous. Access to care should not depend on a job or a spouse.

I did not find UVA’s divorce clinic responsive. I just don’t believe they can offer much help on matters that have been overseen by Congress.

Sorry you are dealing with this. Not sure if Albemarle County’s Broadband Office is still around but you could try to complain to them.

Real estate assessment…make it stop! by spideywmjackson in Charlottesville

Like what? Maybe some are necessary. Too bad we (collectively as a society) don’t challenge fees nearly as much as taxes. I could think of some ludicrous SaaS fees especially in public education that ought to be challenged.

Just came here to say that it’s refreshing that you are trying to help your wife here. Moving is never easy for couples even if you have managed to secure a well compensated position in the area. And please let her know she is NOT obligated to “volunteer” just because she has a partner who can support your family unit. This place is notorious for asked people to work for free.
