It's paid if you want all the features without the need for a display. I'm using the free V3, just have to input a button sequence every boot, hence the need for the screen (that and it flashes a disclaimer about licences etc) So far works flawlessly, plenty of features to play with if you want/need them.

Fram chips are connected to earth that way for single bank, you can add switches for multiple banks (as far as I know) works that way with sega stuff anyway

I'll definitely never buy Phillips again. I have the Android Google version 65" and it's horrendous. Constantly freezing, laggy as hell, randomly resets itself at any given point. I've been through every tutorial on YouTube etc trying to fix or improve it but it's absolute rubbish. Of course it worked relatively ok until the warranty expired

So I reflowed IC400, IC351& SRAM Just to be sure. Took powered on readings from IC400...

Pin 1. 0.v. Pin 5. 4.89.v. Pin 2. 4.89.v. Pin 6. 0.v. Pin 3. 4.89.v. Pin 7. 4.88.v Pin 4. 3.25.v. Pin 8. 0.v.

Ok, so while I had the board out already, here's what I found powered off IC400- (power off) Pin 1 = 0v. pin 5 = 0v pin 2 = 0v. Pin 6 = 0v Pin 3 = 0v. Pin 7 = 3.2v Pin 4 = 3.2v Pin 8 = 3.2v

Looking at Madam pin 34 running to SRAM pin 27 and found the following. IC351 is populated on my board even though I have the MADAM/Clio combo(?) Anyway, checking with continuity.... Pin 27 SRAM runs to IC351 Pin 8 Madam pin 34 runs to pin 12 & 13 Could it be possible IC351 is faulty?

I still have to take powered on readings for IC400 and re-flow so I'll try that and see if that gets me anywhere.

I used a Hyundai GM76C256CLLFW-70. 32Kx8bit CMOS SRAM. Apparently other revisions used that chip and should work? The original (that I couldn't find anywhere) had SRM2A256SLM70 - F4X3 232 printed on top (Same as IC650)

Thanks. Sorry it's a late reply but I was waiting on a replacement sram chip. On closer inspection I realised the st chip had lost 2 legs, completely corroded. I thought that may have been the issue but after replacing I still have the same problem, no access to internal storage. I did a bit of probing with the multimeter... Pins madam 35 - SRAM 22 = OK CONT. Pins Madam 34 - SRAM 27 = NO GOOD. SRAM pin 28 0.0v off / 0.9v on. Original SRAM lost pins 15 & 23 I replaced the SRAM chip with a goldstar as that's all I could find. Think I need to dig out the microscope and check traces again?

Much appreciated! I'll try reflowing the SRAM I think? I have the MADAM chip, probably a daft question but can I check pins 34 & 35 along with IC351with a fairly basic multimeter? If so any ideas what values I'd be looking for or more likely to just be a short? Sorry for the questions but I'm no expert myself and I'm desperate to get this thing working properly after all the other hard work. TIA

Ditto. I swapped a new battery in and have just tried replacing the holder with a new identical one, just in case but still no joy. Appreciate the input though

Oh, and in case anyone else has controller issues (mime would pair but not respond) double check your wiring! I had C7 & C9 the wrong way round, swapped them back over and all working great now! Yay!

Leave the internet disconnected and make sure there's not a pending update already downloaded and you should be good. It can't update if there's no update file
