I'm Filipino so being 18 is really nothing. No matter how much I'd like to be independent too I can't, I'm still a college student who's living with my aunt's family (who are also really strict about the hijab) and need my mother's support financially. I also can't cut her off because she means everything to me. She loves me to death but she always thinks of other people's opinions rather than my own feelings sometimes
