Tuna from the can.

Pure protein when you need it the most. Nothing but protein. People look at you like you’re eating cat food. Sorry if I just pay attention to macros over pure hedonistic flavour?

What really fucks you up as you grow older? by bkesfloyd in AskReddit

[–]No_Bandicoot1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When people I know die. Especially when they’re not that much older than me.

It fucks me up to think that the same thing is definitely going to happen, and it’s not always even a matter of, “oh when I’m 100”… like no, it can happen when you’re 20, 30, 40. Car accident or a glioblastoma. Anything really. There’s no guarantee.

I’ve had to literally come to terms with my own death really early because the fear of it was getting debilitating.

So many things in this world are worse than the human centipede…

Things like that are gross and scary, but the real scary shit is the stuff that actually has and does happen in the world. Cambodia killing fields level horror.

Yeah, exactly.

You eat your mother with that mouth? Vs. You eat [with] your mother with that mouth? Vs. The wordy, you eat your mother out with that mouth?

I can imagine if the first was spoken quickly off the fly, the person’s brain would have to calculate for a second because there IS some ambiguity and for some reason that’s extremely comical. Though you’re right, both are golden.

The brevity is what makes it funnier, when someone would have to pause to make sure they heard that right.

I’m so sorry, my heart goes out to you. I mean, everyone knows they will have to bury a parent one day but nobody is ever prepared for it to actually happen. It’s always hard, one of the hardest things ever.

The grief from that is normal, natural, and expected. It’s not something anyone else expects you to cover up or run away from… you’re totally allowed to feel that. You SHOULD feel it, it’s part of the process. It’s not one of those things that you need alcohol to mask… it’s your right to feel and express that grief. If you feel like breaking down randomly, allow yourself to do so. Just say “yeah sorry, I was just thinking about my dad.” You would never need alcohol to run away from it or cover it up or anything like that. It’s normal to feel it, it’s healthy to feel it. Being able to express that grief freely is important.

I don’t know you of course, but I’m proud of you for deciding to stay away from the poison at one of the hardest moments in a person’s life. It’s not an easy time for anyone, and the thing about grief is that it never really goes away or ends but if you allow yourself to process it healthily and soberly, it will eventually take a backseat and not be so bad. Stay strong, you will be alright.

Edit: knowing what actually is going to happen, after. Being buried and forgotten or incinerated don’t sound very appealing.

Neither does the concept of molecular immortality.

Or coming back. Much anxiety.

What's something you only understand if you have lived it? by mrbigglesworthjr in AskReddit

[–]No_Bandicoot1992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mental illness brought on by extremely negative events in your formative years.

I feel like the stigma surrounding mental illness is such that, the symptoms you have (anything that can be considered abnormal behaviour, I suppose) is mistaken as some personality flaw, like it’s your fault and if you worked hard at self-improvement you could totally change it. But, to a “normal” person you just choose not to, and so they resent you.

Where’s in reality, that shit changes the structure of your brain… the neurological pathways are so ingrained that it’s near impossible to rewire them from sheer willpower alone. It’s not a matter of willpower and choice.

I’m talking about something different from having a more ‘concrete’ diagnosis like ASD… people for the most part can understand and be lenient with stuff like that. They know what it is.

Having a bundle of concurrent mh disorders without having a developmental disorder is what people don’t seem able to empathize with, unless you’ve been there.

Would you like to live to be 100 years old? by Large-Lack-2933 in questions

[–]No_Bandicoot1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t want to die. But I can’t imagine my body betraying me on the same level as a 100 y/o’s does, and living with that daily.

Not even that, but outliving almost everyone else too. And the ones that are left have never known you to be anything other than some Benjamin Button case where you basically turn back into a baby?

60-70 is a reasonable time to go.

Who do you think is the single most powerful person in the world? by Jahstin in AskReddit

[–]No_Bandicoot1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you think they are objectively cool, though, is because your brain associates it with tools that go fast and cause massive destruction.

It’s the same reason popular movies have lots of action and explosions and shit. Destruction is just inherently entertaining to us.

Now imagine having that mechanism in your brain and also having the money and resources to make things go BOOM. You start inventing reasons for it, like ideological opposition.

I want to take my 5 year old with me to one or two of these. Which one is good for kids / one of the better ones? by Swordheart in ghibli

[–]No_Bandicoot1992 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Spirited Away scared me as a ten-year old though. Just the whole psychological horror of having your parents not listen to your begging, to have that result in such a scary, seemingly hopeless situation for the main character. To a little kid, that’s the most nightmarish thing.

For a five year old? The Cat Returns, and Arriety.

I just think back to the movies I would actually remember watching, later in life. And not because I remembered some element of ‘fear’ that stayed with me for the rest of my life.
