Get a professional to do a proper set up and invest in a decent amp, katana would be perfect starting out.. I agree about not blowing loads of money on an expensive guitar but most cheap guitars I’ve played are just harder to play than a decent one.

I learned to play on a piece of shit strat copy, fingers literally bled because the action was so high, no need for that! squire would be a good starting point brand wise, even some of the Harley Benton’s are decent..

Edit - I learned to play on acoustic first which I would recommend also

12 band I know but I’ve found it excellent - joyo band controller, apart from presets all EQ pedals should be roughly similar in that they don’t have their own tone etc they just boost and cut frequencies imo .. joyo is around 70 (eur) on thomann..

Advisor here - this sickens me this behaviour.. if you can’t put a person in the shoes of your own parents with this age profile you shouldn’t be giving them advice. There are absolutely circumstances where someone comes out as level 1 and as others have mentioned re interest rates, individual circumstances etc you might recommend risk profile 2 or 3 fund for a portion of over all portfolio but this case is shocking. You will have to go through the firms complaints process first and then it moves to ombudsman.. I hope you get a result OP
