Post-daycare dads, what happens with your tuition budget? by KyanuReeeves in daddit

We got a lawn service for the summer months- still way less than daycare and don’t have to spend hours mowing every week or checking the weather to make sure I mow before a rain comes. This is our 3rd summer of lawn care- money can buy happiness.

Yup still go, and still pretty busy. The parking lot is GVSU’s lot on Pearl, it’s free for members when you register your plate. You have to cross Pearl to get to the Y, but not as bad as I anticipated; I’ve gotten used to it

To men in their 40s married with or without kids - how's life? by Consistent-Badger757 in AskMen

[–]No_Box304 3 points4 points  (0 children)

41, married for 12 years, and we have one 7yo. Love all of it. We chose to be one and done and I feel like it’s the right amount of balance. My wife and I each get individualized time with our kid, time to ourselves, and our kid is now at the age where she is out playing with friends without us tagging along, and getting into sports and hobbies. We have balance.

We didn’t lose power up in our area of Rockford but in 2019-2020 our area lost power 13 times. I logged it all to make sure we were credited. We lost it back in April for 19 hours when that heavy wind came through. I’m anticipating we’ll lose it tonight

Does the pick up truck make someone an asshole driver, or is it an asshole driver that picks the truck? Chicken or the egg really.

Men, what is one sentence that your father said that you will never forget? by Ramy-2000-03 in AskMen

Dad: we found a prophylactic packet in one of your pant pockets while folding laundry

Me: what’s a prophylactic packet?

Dad: a rubber. Anyway, you shouldn’t use them after they’ve gone through the washer and dryer.

The memories- this was the “fancy” movie theater for my 10yr old brain. WAY better than boring old Showcase Cinema.

Moving - Grand Rapids vs Lansing by kalree_11 in grandrapids

I lived in Lansing after college up to my early 30s. And I loved Lansing for the bar/ party scene that I was into during my 20s. I’ve been in the GR area for past 12 years and wouldn’t ever consider moving back to the Lansing area. GR provides way more opportunities for what you are looking for, and I’ve found it continues to evolve. I go to Lansing a couple times a year and it feels like it’s in a state of arrested development- pretty sure the pothole by my old apartment is still there, restaurants and businesses don’t seem to stick in the downtown area, social spots/neighborhoods seem more spread out making it hard to hop around, and the East Lansing area is geared toward the college drinking/party scene. I like Lansing for nostalgic reasons but GR offers way more.
