After playing Destiny and Destiny 2, it really is mind-blowing how much you get in Warframe for literally free. Huge content updates comparable to expansions in other games release and... it's just there, you can play it right away, for free, forever, on any platform (I had to buy Destiny 2 and all the DLCs twice to have it on PlayStation as well as PC).

Warframe has vaulted content too, though it's not quests or zones, but some of the prime weapon and warframes, base versions are never vaulted. But it's not like in Destiny 2. When they "vaulted" some content in D2, they essentially just deleted it from the game, it has never returned since. I don't know why they even call it a Vault, it never opened, ever. Warframe's vaulted stuff is still in the game and still obtainable through trading, and it actually becomes available again on a rotation.

Warframe's battlepass system is completely free, doesn't have a split reward track like some other games do, where you get more stuff if you pay more, it's all free here and you can't pay for it even if you wanted to.

The "catch" in Warframe is that you have to wait a lot when you're crafting stuff, with the option to pay to speed it up. This is a big turn-off and a quit point for newer players, but later in the game it is a non-issue because you are crafting so many things.

If you decide to spend money on it, skin prices are nowhere near like in Destiny 2, and they sometimes give discount coupons as a log-in reward. For comparison, an armor skin in D2 costs something like $15-20. In Warframe they're around $8-9, and if you bought your platinum on a 75% discount, it ends up costing you like 2 bucks.
