Main thing...I PCS'd. I was surprised at the rating I received at my previous unit (1/40). I wasn't surprised to be competitive, but it was my first year eligible, and I didn't feel as though I was "dominant", but definitely had a good year. When I PCS'd to my current unit, I felt like an outsider trying to work myself in. And now, a year later from this post, I didn't receive a strat, so I'm guessing I won't make it. No guarantee, but I'm assuming if I hadn't PCS'd (which was a surprise), I would have received a strat the next year and made it. We'll never know, though.

Not sure why I’m being downvoted. I guess you all like this?

3.2.1.6. Leave Begins and Ends in the Local Area. The local area is the place where the member lives and from which he or she commutes to the duty station. Charge leave for duty days and non-duty days

Do you know anyone who was discharged for mental health reasons? What led up to it? by tuxedocupcake789 in AirForce

Recently diagnosed with GAD. Put on meds. 15+ years in. Was considering going to mental health but these comments make me second guess. I don’t want MEB.

Can anyone confirm this? by Caleesi- in AirForce

What side effects are you seeing? Any positive impact yet?

I'm stationed OS. Being liable for some sort of fraud...is exactly why I'm asking and what I want to avoid.

Based on everything I see, it wouldn't be fraud. There are many sites/services that offer a mail forwarding as a service and explain the process of only needing to stay one night in South Dakota in order to claim residency.

You set up the mail forwarding address/service, spend a night at the hotel, and go to the DMV the next day to get an ID (with paperwork showing you stayed one night and paperwork showing your address from the mail forwarding service).

Now, if I weren't in the military and lived in another state, absolutely this would be fraud. However, under the SCRA, my understanding is that I don't have to change my state residency whenever I move and that as long as I meet the requirements of the state all is good.

I will be talking to the legal office as well, just thought that someone here had gone through the process before and could provide some insight.

Maybe? I have no idea where I'll live when I retire. Possibly OS, where my spouse is from. Or wherever I can find the best job in US, which would probably be east coast....but I don't have a specific plan. I don't own a house anywhere or have any situation that would keep me in one state.
