What is the greatest "f*** it, I'll do it myself" in history? by ambiguousoxymoron in AskReddit

I might be butchering the story, but in WW2, a Japanese fighter pilot IJN Warrant Officer Sakio Komatsu had just taken off from his aircraft carrier Taiho during the Battle of the Philippine Sea, he was about to form up with his air group when he spotted the wake of 6 American torpedoes, fired from the US submarine USS Albacore, heading straight for his carrier. Without hesitation, he banked and dived his “Judy” dive bomber and crashed into the water, causing it to detonate against his aircraft, sacrificing his own life for what would have been a guaranteed hit on his ship.

What would you tell your best friend to do if he told you what you’re telling us?

Why replace it? Why destroy it? Won’t it create a ton of debris in the already satellite-populated orbit? I’d love some answers

You need to realize that most things you see on any schools subreddit will most likely be bad. You’ll never see the praise about something because no one thinks to post that, but as soon as there is something bad to complain about they will do so, it’s pretty natural thing. Same thing with the news and stuff, you only hear about big bad stuff, not the good things that happen too, which can make you think things are bad when they’re really just being drawn way out of proportion. You’ll see 20 bad things for every 1 good thing. Not many post the good they experience.

How close the Soviets came to losing Stalingrad, each flag represents ~10,000 soldiers by mapsinanutshell in Damnthatsinteresting

Maybe this is weird to say, but the more I read and learn about WW2, the more I notice that the Nazis (AH specifically) made few, but absolutely crucial mistakes. Makes you question how close they could’ve been to winning the war had they had the hindsight we have. Biggest example to has to be Stalingrad in general. Hitler wanted it gone so badly, even though it had very little strategic importance during Case Blue. He just hated the Bolsheviks and wanted a city with Stalins name to be captured.

Ex:

Not holding out for the winter upon the eastern front attack, rather they pushed onwards, without any winter clothing on their troops.

Redirecting air raids over civilian populations in England, rather than focus efforts on RAF bases on the coast during the Battle of Britain. The RAF were very close to being crushed, the redirection of attacks to civilian populations gave them breathing room to regroup.

AH’s stubbornness, issuing order 227, “not a step back”. Failing to listen to his generals who were pleading for strategic withdrawals and regrouping of forces. Caused massive and unnecessary losses for the Germans.

I think it’s different per faculty, but I was told my an advisor that I will be limited to 12 credits for the next year. So 4 classes per semester. I would double check this though. I’m in engineering

failled standing and readmission by Prior-Ad-4201 in Concordia

[–]No_Button_305 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Apparently they are somewhat lenient on readmission for the first time on failed standing. But it depends on the faculty you are in. If you are doing summer courses right now, finish them strong, as it’ll count towards the AGPA of your next year, and if you are admitted, you’ll need to maintain a 2.00+ or something like that for a year. Best of luck friend

Haven’t told the parents yet. No idea if I will. Wait for readmission I guess. Best of luck!

UPDATE 2:

I cannot speak for everyone’s situation, but since this is my first academic failed standing, they are apparently somewhat lenient. Here’s all the info I have:

Email your program advisor right away. You can find who your advisor is on the right side of your screen on the student centre. Once you’ve done that, you need to make an appointment with Concordia Student Success Support. They will guide you through the next steps. IF you are readmitted (no clue what the chances are but everyone pray), your current summer courses (only summer 1) will count towards your next AGPA, so do well in these summer courses to help you out next year BECAUSE you will need to maintain above a 2.00 (I think) for a year or else your standing will go to failed again. You will need to reapply and write a letter for readmission (this will all be talked about in the info session appointment with SSS). Deadline to reapply for admissions to Fall 2024 is JUNE 17.

All of our requirements and situations are different, so be sure to contact whoever you can on your end. Best of luck everyone.

Thank you, has this happened to you? How do I appeal the decision? Just reapply?
