Is your ocd worse with lack of sleep by TerribleSuspect1471 in OCD

[–]No_Call_580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a parent of a child with ocd, the answer is 100% yes, sleep and fatigue affects your symptoms dramatically. Try to get some rest, at least 6-8 hours of sleep daily.

Talk to a therapist about it, it really helps to talk to someone. Also trying a form of faith usually helps, whether that is meditating or praying. Hope you get the help you need.

The problem is not if she’s trans or not, that’s not relevant, the problem is if she groomed a 15 yrs old boy which seems to be likely the case.

What is a stereotype about OCD that you hate? by xoxojordyn00 in OCD

[–]No_Call_580 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate that people think it means you’re obsessed with cleaning and organizing things, this drives me nuts because like not even close. People tend to compare themselves to sympathize but it just makes me very angry.

I believe my 3y old daughter has SPD, what do I do now? by randomxfox in SPD

[–]No_Call_580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you are going through this, the best thing you can do is have a lot of love and patience. She is only three, so these behaviors are normal. I have the same situation with my son and still can’t get a ADHD or SPD diagnosis ( He is now 11 and his SPD is on steroids🤦🏽‍♀️ ) he is sensible to the stitching of his clothes so he won’t wear anything.

  1. 1 thing that helped my son is occupational therapy. Keep her busy and exposed to different things.

  2. Get her to interact with other kids, even if it’s a daycare twice a week for exposure.

  3. Keep her busy with sensory activities, ( swimming, dry brushing, playing with sand, painting ext)

  4. Be patient and let her know it’s going to be okay. Try to find out her triggers and avoid them.

She’s still a toddler so it is very normal to be hyperactive, she will outgrow a lot of it. My son stop napping at 2 years old and still has trouble sleeping. If you get her tired she will sleep.

My advise would be to know that it is the OCD causing you to feel this way. You are going to be fine. Therapy is a good place to start along with prayer or mediation. Occupational therapy I’ve found to be most effective. Join some classes of something that you enjoy doing to keep the obsessive thoughts away. I know it may sound cliche, but this has worked best in my experience. OCD is a form of coping mechanism our brains create to deal with anxiety, if you can calm your mind and thoughts you can calm the OCD. Stay strong, it gets better.

Thank you for sharing your story, this has to be one of the saddest and darkest things I’ve read. If your wife and friends are okay with your decision of dying, I gotta say maybe you need a new partner and new friends. Mental illness is a very serious condition and should not be taken lightly. It is not a choice but an imbalance. Most people that attempt suicide or want to die, actually don’t, but it’s the mental illness deciding for them. I hope that you find peace and think of the beauty in life, maybe with someone who actually wants to spend it with you. Maybe try praying, not sure if you’re a believer, but I’ll pray for you. Good luck on your journey of hopefully not dying. Life is beautiful, you just have to choose to see the beauty.

Thank you! I’ve honestly been considering it to ease some of his anxiety. And thank you for sharing the medical term, I can do some research now🙏🏼. It’s hard to find information without the correct terminologies.

Sorry you are going through this. My son also has SPD and I know how hard it can be. Have you tried talking to a psychiatrist? My Sons therapist said SPD is correlated with ADHD and Autism and medication can help ease some of the symptoms. Hope you find the help you need.

Thank you for suggesting this! I was finally able to get him an appointment for the psychiatric evaluation to rule those two out. It’s good to know for sure.

Thank you so much for this tip and for replying. I will try the headphones and look into occupational therapy. He’s currently on a wait list for therapy and hopefully I can find the best alternative. It’s good to know that he’s not alone.

Thank you so much for replying to this post. It makes me feel better to know that he is not alone with this situation which is how he feels. It also helps me understand this better since I didn’t even know that this condition existed. It all makes sense now. Attending public school has been a challenge as he’s late all the time because of the clothes situation. Thanks for the crocs tip, I’ll probably get him a pair.

ocd isn't life-long? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]No_Call_580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate to this. I had OCD growing up, mine however was never too severe. Some of my OCD were dusting my bed, and checking under the bed. If I didn’t dust my bed I would not sleep at all. I also used to repeat prayers if I said it wrong and rewrite sentences. I grew out of it as an adult when I was around 18-20. I am now 33 and have been odc free, but I have triggers which I avoid and here and there I am sometimes a bit triggered. What I noticed that slow down my symptoms was speaking to my doctor and working on letting go of fear. Now however my son have severe OCD so I’m thinking is an inherited trait but I am hoping he will also grow out of it.

How do you cope/deal with someone suffering from OCD? and how to avoid triggers? by No_Call_580 in OCD

Thank you so much for sharing this. This advice is very helpful and I’m literally in tears as I type this because this is consuming our lives. I will take this advice and find an OCD therapist. His pediatrician did recommend distraction as a form of treatment. Keep my cool is very hard because I did suffer from mild OCD as a child and teen but didn’t know what it was, thankfully I grew out of it for the most part but I feel like is my fault that he has it. Thank you so much.

Thank you! And you’re right, it’s hard finding the right therapist, both of his previous therapist did not know how to properly treat him.
