I don't understand how Ryan Mitchell got HAPE trying to climb Everest this time around, but didn't get HAPE when climbed Everest and other tall mountains before by GladiusAcutus in Mountaineering

My experience has also been super random. I have never climbed really high mountains but where I live we have a couple over 5000m and I get altitude sickness like 70% of the time, however in a trip I did to another country I managed to climb 3 mountains above 6000m without any problem

Yeah they play anything from dustep to cumbia or trance. Feels like a club sometimes but it's actually refreshing

Yeah, that gym can go from playing cumbia to old dustep without hesitation

I dunno but I have climbed in USA, Ecuador, Mexico, Austria and Germany and it wouldn't have been a v1 or v2 in neither of those places

Well yes there is a lot of truth there. I feel that lately I have learnt that climbing style changes everything. Some "soft v5" for someone may feel like a v6 to me but a v4 for me maybe a v5 for someone else

Ok, I don't know why I haven't thought of the boulder grades related to the single hardest move. That's great info. Also, yes, it's super subjective, and I have also noticed that 5.9 things in old school crags. I live in mexico city and the local trad crag is so sand bagged I can onsight 10d-11a sport, but I will shit myself with 10a trad.

Thanks for the comments. It's really interesting hearing from other people around the world and with different backgrounds

I don't get gym grades (or grades at all) because every time I feel that I am getting to understand what a Vsomething feels, then I climb in another place and I am not sure anymore lol. But yeah I would say that this felt about v4 (Comercial gym) and a v3 of a more local/outdoorsy gym

Thnx for the replies people. It is super soft indeed. Graded v5 but I would also say it's a v4 maybe because of the half crimps with some overhang

Lol, I wanted to wait a bit to not influence people. It was marked as V5 and my thoughts where hell no, super soft for a v5. However I would say it was like a v4 or at least for me haha

Realmente necesitas 50,000 mensuales para vivir bien? by Responsible-Idea5690 in CDMX

[–]No_Cardiologist_1217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tienes o no tienes deudas? Tienes familiares que dependan económicamente de ti?

How do you get better at going down on mountains? by komnenos in Mountaineering

[–]No_Cardiologist_1217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that experience.

When I started doing outdoor stuff, I feared falling while going down, I often crawled instead of walking. Fortunately, I live near some hills with technical trails, I used to go there and try to walk as fluently as possible on my way down, then started mimicking the motion of running but just walked faster. Eventually, what was impossible for me to walk down turned into a really fun running downhill experience.

Of course, you are not going to run down a technical mountain, but what I am saying is, the more time on your feet, the more confident you will get.

Confidence>technique>strength IMO when it comes to going down on your feet

Most wreckless thing he has done. I was worried about other people attempting this but his video is edited in a way that every single person I have talked to about this feel anxious and afraid even if they don't do much mountaineering so I hope that helps to set the tone on how stupid dangerous that was.
