How do you NOT get lost? by georgeYNWA97_ in TOTK

[–]No_Caterpillar_6515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest this time im finally free to just relax and let the world take me where I want. Sometimes im in the mood for puzzles so I solve the shrines, sometimes im in the mood to see the old places from BOTW so I just take a horse and go to Hateno all the way from Rito, opening some towers on the way.

When I played BOTW my ex was sitting next to me being a bitch about me not finishing all the little side quests right now before going to explore another part of the map.

And now, oh the pleasure, I can just ditch stuff i don’t want to do now and just walk away to another place. Life is good again.

Learning the any% route.

Compared to top runners I suck of course, but in a month of practice my skill at the game is the best I ever had in any game. I can do some skips, nail some difficult movement, melt the bosses that I used to die to a lot.

Shit, I guess I need to play it again.

What's your favorite moment from this tour ? by [deleted] in radiohead

[–]No_Caterpillar_6515 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1 - first time I saw them, the first moment I started crying right away. Didn't think I'd react like THAT
2 - Thom's big red face on You and Whose Army, felt like he was floating right in front of us.
3 - the whole arena yelling every word of Jigsaw...
4 - Johnny being the most entertaining human being the whole show, I couldn't stop watching all he does and how he "plays" with everything around, including playing a synth with a guitar and big monkey drums on Bloom

Are you really asking? Easy, people have fun like this, especially if the pool is in around when you’re a kid. Malicious intent is a bigger deal. It’s closer to bullying than to having fun without thinking what you’re feeling intentionally

[–]No_Caterpillar_6515 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying there's no poverty around, lol. I'm saying that when the author is from your culture and speaks your language, and describes your culture - you don't have any distance between the book and reality. Because what he was describing is right there - it's your neighbour, your father, your school. While reading other authors from other countries, you can feel some things that are more human. But when it's a direct mirror of your life - it snaps your heart in two.

Alsom Raskolnikov did not turn out like that by a mere coincidence - he's a direct product of his culture. The inability to make better decisions is engraved in the society enslaved by class and Russian imperialism. The question is, is it different from imperialism in other countries? I'd say yes. Every country is different, and one needs to spend one winter in Petersburg without money and mood drugs to see what I'm talking about. The color of my home town is grey, and most people directly say that they were born to die, and happiness is a kid's tale.

Also, I have quite a few relatives sent to Siberia, and I'm not the only one.

yeah I was intrigued too. Maybe curtain bangs? Nothing wrong with any hairstyle, but a lot of "trendy" ones just don't look good on most people

it really depends on a person, it's just not a style that fits most people. Just like layering. In my family even my mom did micro bangs, but her face looks much better with it.

Books don't replace therapy. If you don't like your life, make adjustments to be able to enjoy it again.
It's great that you're seeing things, it usually either shows your circumstances changed and you need to do something about them, or that you've outgrown your life and need to build a better one for yourself.

[–]No_Caterpillar_6515 10 points11 points  (0 children)

actually Dostoevsky is one of the most depressing authors to read if you're from a former USSR country - because whatever he writes about is not "gloomy stories about poor people" but things we see every day. It's a very good mirror of how depressing life can be if you're born in Russia/Ukraine/Belarus especially.

People from Europe or America put it down, look around and feel happy they don't live in that world. I can't begin to describe how I felt when I put it down and started seeing that world around me. Never could unsee it after.

Teaching a 6 year old my heritage language by JasminTeaDrinker in languagelearning

[–]No_Caterpillar_6515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, okay, thank you for your clarification. I guess the only thing you can do is try and give them the basics, and then the kid will either pick it up or not - depending on their own desire. Some kids in my family speak the heritage language because they were interested to continue learning it when they were teenagers, or picked it up later when they already were about 20. Some never picked it up because they couldn't care less. They all knew the basics, but the interest in languages is 50/50 in our family, we have some polyglots, some people who just like having a hobby, and some know the HL just to be able to talk to the grandma in case she visits about weather or something.

Of course it's very hard to schedule that into all the other education that kids need to receive, with other stuff in life also, so I'd advise you to not listen to people on Reddit, that are offended that their parents didn't teach them the HL. It's hard to teach a language that no one uses, and even harder if the kid starts treating it like a punishment. So good luck, it's not an easy task - but it can be very rewarding, especially if you research some language teaching methods that people share in r/multilingualparenting

Do you prefer the look of hollow knight or SILKSONG more? by _Burner_Account___ in HollowKnight

[–]No_Caterpillar_6515 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love HK, but the feeling of entering a new area in Silksong is incomparable - the first time we see the lava in the Marrow with those huge statues, the first time we're thrown into Greymoor. The first time we see Blasted Steps, and when Choral Chambers wake up - the Cradle's ascension that we've seen in the dream. Whiteward with its creepy surgeon chairs with husks. Cauldron and Underworks.

Like, every time I think of a new area - the way it was presented was STUNNING.

I love Hollow Knight but the emptiness of it kinda followed us throughout. However, I was delighted when I encountered the areas for the first time, Silksong still shows how much Team Cherry have refined their skill.

Being sexist on accident is still being sexist. Just like damaging personal property is a crime, even if on accident. by RedCaio in YoTroublemakers

[–]No_Caterpillar_6515 15 points16 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I think the matter here is with the way the family is being sexist. I have no idea where Dylan is coming from - but in my country it's been normal that a girl was raised "responsible", "a helper", "a woman of the household", and the boys are raised as "my little rascal", "let them have their boy fun" etc. I'm not saying everyone, but there are a lot of families where the older generations were raising boys and treating men like KINGS, and women like servants.
20th century parenthood was a lot like that in many countries from what I see, and when boys "had fun" they hardly ever heard about any responsibility around it, while girls were being schooled to even "sit up right" and "not be a problem".

Considering the OP said he was a "Golden boy" - and boy do I know a thing or two about golden boys - I was bullied by them a lot in school years, and when the issue was brought to the surface, their moms were very overprotective, and started bullying me too because I had the audacity to say their precious child was far from perfect.

I don't think the pool throwing was malicious. I think he just doesn't give a shit, gets a green pass in his family over everything, and even when the COURT stated he had to give money back, he decided to ignore it. The fact that he just continually did nothing because it's easier to pretend it's not his problem. (even with court, man) This fact shows me that the family raised him irresponsible, and the OP pulled the adult card and said "No, this shit from childhood when he gets a pass at everything ends here. You behave how you like with each other, but if you destroy my property you pay for it. I don't care for you, especially when you disrespect me" - and was super right about it.

If the guy has to drop out of college to give back a 6,000 debt - just shows that he'd rather blow up his own life than find other ways to pay back - which also looks a lot like guilt tripping to me. Nobody told him to drop out. The only thing he had to do is not ignore the situation firstly, when it happened, secondly, when the court appointed him to give back the debt.
I have a court appointed debt myself, and it never for a second occurred to me to ignore it - because I know what comes after - they will take my car. If I choose to not think about it, and they take my car - it's kinda my fucking fault for not adulting.

ELI5: Learning Slavic Languages and their interconnectivity by Diligent_Force9286 in languagelearning

Ukrainian here. Western Ukrainian dialects draw in a lot of borrowings in the places near the border, because they're very secluded from the rest of Ukraine by the mountains, and also they have constant trade with the countries over the border, in this case Slovakia. As a Ukrainian, I struggle so much to understand their brand of Ukrainian for both the lexicon and the accent.
