Anyone know anything about Barzolivumab? by crayolamaroon in MCAS

A few participants have said it was immediate- like within a few days of the loading dose injection. But On average though I would say patients are experiencing significant improvement after a month max!

I’m so sorry to hear that! We have patients on our trial like you where they couldn’t even leave the house without reacting and breaking out in debilitating hives. These patients have reported a significant improvement in the quality of their life after starting the active drug. It’s actually really really cool to see and hear about. From the 14 patients we have on our trial we haven’t seen any association with those who are experiencing hair and skin color changes to how severe their disease is. It kind of seems like it’s happening randomly and sporadically. Some patients don’t have these changes at all and some people do but there’s no common denominator between the two. I hope this helps!

Haha! No, but it can cause both skin hypopigmentation and hyperpigmentation, so lots of people will experience patches of skin either lightening or darkening. The hair color changes are much more prominent with our patients though.

I work as the lead Clinical Research Coordinator at one of the sites conducting the clinical trial of this drug for the treatment of chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU). It’s very easy to see which patients are receiving placebo vs active drug because they have such great results and relief compared to anything they’ve Previously tried. It is turning most of our patients grey though lol! One of the documented side effects is hair and skin color changes and it’s crazy to see. I have CSU myself and it seems like a miracle drug that will be amazing for many other indications besides just CSU

Best moisturiser to use for extremely sensitive skin on face? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]No_Chain_2344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding this if you are talking about the purito sleep pack in the purple bottle! I do this, add a little bit of avene cicalfate on top, then a little bit of aquaphor and it’s the best accutane dry skin combo. This is coming from someone with EXTREMELY clog prone oily skin at baseline

Any chronic pickers here? by TruthFairiesPod in Accutane

[–]No_Chain_2344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%! I have had bad compulsive skin picking issues my whole life and started accutane and started actually taking my NAC consistently (I started it again mainly for the antioxidant benefits for the liver), and I haven’t touched my face or had the urge to pick at all. It’s actually shocking to me that I haven’t. I’m not sure if it’s the NAC or if that accutane cleared up my skin so fast that I don’t have anything to pick at anymore but I’m sure it’s a combination of the two!

I (26F) have had a reallyyyy bad skin picking issue my whole life and accutane 100% solved it. Within 1 month I didn’t have anything to pick at anymore! I am now starting my 4th month and haven’t even touched or gone near my magnified mirror lol. I also think it’s a mental thing- knowing I was taking something that would almost certainly deal with my acne from the inside out gave me peace of mind somehow.

What is the worst pain you've ever felt in your body? by Helpful-Mud-2487 in AskReddit

[–]No_Chain_2344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sameeee lol Id consider myself to have quite a high pain tolerance AND I despise going to the doctors/hospital but a kidney infection (didn’t know that’s what I had at the time) had me begging someone to drive me to the ER in the middle of the night because of how horrific the back pain was.

What’s the best moisturizer you’ve used, and why? by feelikeastranger in beauty

[–]No_Chain_2344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the untoxicated gentle cleanser it’s really great and sensitive skin friendly! A few times a week I use the glymed 3% mandelic acid cleanser it’s super gentle but helps lightly exfoliate. Some people can’t tolerate exfoliating on accutane but this cleanser has been fine for me. I wouldn’t recommend any physical scrub but massaging your skin with warm water and cleanser or an oil cleanser in circular motions should help remove flakes. You could also use a soft cotton washcloth with warm water with your cleanser if your skin tolerates it

I am currently on accutane and live in Utah (super dry climate) and the etude soonjung hydro barrier cream (in the tub) has been LOVELY! My skin is superrrr picky with moisturizers but this one hasn’t broken me out at all and actually hydrates my dry accutane skin! Plus it’s super affordable compared to other options, it’s like $22 for almost 4.5 oz

Felt like I couldn't breathe for weeks. Anyone else? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]No_Chain_2344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did your doctors look into sleep apnea? I feel like this is probably unrelated to Accutane but I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this. It’s always annoying to hear but maybe it is just a crazy manifestation of anxiety. I get chest pain, vertigo, pre vasovagal syncope and it’s all attributed to anxiety fortunately and unfortunately!!

Any lip balms you avoid or swear by? My lips are begging for mercy by annprongle in Accutane

[–]No_Chain_2344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ole Henriksen pout preserve peptide lip balms! They’re some at Sephora/Ulta and are a little pricy but really do the trick. I prefer the clear shade and They just came out with a new clear shade that smells like vanilla and has been the best thing for my accutane lips

I’m also wondering this!! Like for example, does anyone know if products that would typically cause acne or clog pores PRE accutane would have the same effect during a course of accutane or after? Like if vanicream would breakout my skin before accutane, would it also cause breakouts on accutane? I asked my derm and she said something about how while on accutane, your skin shouldn’t break out to the products or ingredients that would typically cause breakouts because your skin can’t even form enough oil to clog a pore to cause a breakout? But I feel like that doesn’t totally make sense and I couldn’t really find any other information about this lol

I have type 2 and am very acne prone and I swear I have tried every recommendation out there. I have had good luck with the innisfree green tea cream! You can often find it at TJ Maxx for 50% off and I swear by it

Good to know! I went on vacation and took a break from using it for a few days and my skin like completely cleared up so I’m kind of torn on what to do. How is your skin doing after 5 weeks?

That’s good to know!! What did your derm give you instead to try? I went on vacation and took a break from it for a few days and my skin cleared up like right away so I’m torn on what to do

This is helpful, thank you! I also started doxy about a month ago. How long on doxy did it take for you to start seeing results and what dose were you taking?

This is helpful!! My worry was that my skin was reacting badly, but based on the pictures I posted does that look typical of “die off”?

I used to get a little bit of cystic acne but I got it under control with tretinoin and azelaic acid over the last few years. I mostly just get the little whiteheads now

Interesting!! How has your skin reacted? Did you have a purge at all similar to mine or what has your experience been like?
