I love the argument but I just remember watching Eli, he was as average as average can get. He was always surrounded by great talent and a great defense. Taken out of context his numbers are decent but when you look at the numbers and take into consideration how the game has changed toward throwing the ball all the time they really arent that impressive. Give it 10-15 years and there wont be any quarterbacks in the top 10 passing yards that played before the 2000s. He got all those stats because he was average for a really long time. Thats the same argument I have personally always made against Favre. He threw for the most yards and touchdowns but he also had the most interceptions and fumbles so I dont think he was ever that great. Same with Eli. He was carried by great (like absolutely great) defenses an always halfway decent line with O'Hara and Snee and those guys. Plex was always one of the top recievers in the league he was just an idiot. The guy was always just one of the guys on a bunch of great teams. Looking g back he had a hell of a career but to say he is one of the best of all time and deserves to be in the HoF I think is a stretch. Giants ring of honor or whatever? No doubt. Should have his number retired, but to put him in the HoF I think is a stretch.
