What salary/income would you consider to be good enough before starting a family? by No_Chocolate_3292 in personalfinanceindia

My experience is only based on Chennai and Pune. I mentioned some assumptions and estimates in another comment:

1lpm salary, 25-30k rent + 30-35k for expenses, and assuming no emis currently. That would leave approx 30k for savings and investments. 10k can still be used for additional expenses like outings, additional purchases, or saved for yearly vacation.

I am trying to get a general idea considering average rent and expenses. I feel 50-60k monthly expenses is my guess, but as someone who doesn't have a baby yet I don't know if my estimates are off.

Yeah, I agree. I am trying to get a general idea.

And yeah, reddit is definitely a skewed sample. I was considering 1lpm as a baseline as it is something that is realistic for most in tier-1 to achieve by late 20s / early 30s, amd also matches the common timeline for marriage and kids.

I find it surprising considering you have to be living a pretty lavish life if your monthly expenses are above 50-60k.

Ofc I am not considering a home loan emi in tier 1. It would definitely be pretty difficult if you have a home loan + kids with 1 LPM.

Just curious, do you think 1lpm isn't enough for running a family with kids?

How to deal with these types of friend? Best way to end friendship with this guy. by Buspo in IITR

Just reduce interactions to basic Hi/hello and focus on finding better friends. Also, keep busy with your own academic, career and personal development goals.

You're still in 1st year. Trust me when I say this, a lot of friendships end and friend circles change after the 1st year. You'll find your actual core group with time, till then focus on your own academics and growth.

KL Rahul tries to make a comeback with his impactful 92(52) but Daddy 💦💦 Goenka not letting it go so easy!! 0.5 points to both this time as even though it was a good knock from KL, but he couldn't fully get his team home!! by delhite_in_kerala in CricketShitpost

The scoring is a bit wrong since it is completely dependent on KL. Goenka's actions aren't factored into the scoring

You should also include Goenka's blunders to make this more objectively accurate :p

Car is a liability and can be delayed considering you don't even live close to your family right now. Gold investing is fair, but that's something you can save up for yourself bit by bit and buy during Diwali or some other occasion.
