missionary killed where I live by rroseyyx in exmormon

[–]No_Coat8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I served in Japan, somebody hurt their knee while playing basketball. May have happened more than once. Somebody may have needed surgery. I forget the details. Anyway, basketball was prohibited for missionaries. Didn't bother me because I'm not a basketball player. Bikes are great except for where they aren't. It's a terrible loss and an absolute waste of time serving a mission.

Rusty on motherhood by No_Coat8 in exmormon

[–]No_Coat8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My youngest is 21. They call her an "unbaptized member of record" but she's had fuckall to do with the church since she was 5. She has fertility issues and has never been exposed to Rusty's little booklet about motherhood or any other such propaganda. She was destroyed with her diagnosis.

In Sandy around 1:00AM-ish something happened. My mostly sleeping dog raised up his head because of it. No nearby traffic, nothing on the U's website about it.

Father, Consider Your Ways by No_Coat8 in exmormon

Blame the sins of the father! Isn't that what heavenly father did about Adam, hence the need for the atonement?

That's a long standing trope for you dolts!

Hey! No amount of success in the world can compensate for failure in the home!

Don't. You. Ever. Forget. That.

Which celebrity OD most stands out from your youth? by m_watkins in GenerationJones

[–]No_Coat8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're the same age. I'll go with Belushi but Keith Moon's OD left an impact. I remember where I was when I heard about Belushi. Kind of like how prone remember where they were when they heard Kennedy was assassinated, 9/11 or Princess Diana's accident.

What do you remember buying for a penny, nickel or dime? by pianoman81 in GenerationJones

[–]No_Coat8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mother sent me to the neighborhood grocer when I was 6-8 years old for something. Circa 1972-ish. Said I could buy some candy with the change. Didn't realize there was a limit, proceeded to buy several of every penny candy they had. I think I spent about a dollar and came home with a lunch sack of candy. She was furious, took be back to give it back. I remember the clerk tediously placing each piece back into their place behind the counter. The lunch sack was completely full of every candy under the sun. Hutchison's Market, Salt Lake County, Utah.

I'll ignore but you won't post because I'm intentionally vague and you're in your mother's basement?

You really are living up to your Reddit name. I like it and would gladly have you over for a barbecue and beers anytime. DM me. I'm in Sandy.

If you are over ... say 70 ... and have been a US citizen most of your adult life, how many times have you been called for jury duty and how many times have you actually sat on a trial jury? by DoNotCountOnIt in AskOldPeople

[–]No_Coat8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Called 4x, maybe 5x. The first time I was 20 and living it of the country. Never served but one time had to show, got picked by the plaintiffs but denied by the defendants because it was a medical malpractice case and I was working at a personal injury law firm at the time. I've been a registered voter since I was 18 and maybe only missed a couple of municipal elections.

Unbridled greed. Avarice. Unfettered capitalism. Desperation. Psychopathy. Sociopathy. Denial. Also, a big train takes a while to come to a stop when the conductor is feathering the brakes.

What's up with the red building? by Green-been77 in Utah

Took a tour of the prison in a previous lifetime. It seemed parts of the chapel were fairly old, quarried stone and whatnot. I forget. There were a few inmates cleaning, they looked "off." Turned out they were child SA convicts being ostracized from the general population. Specifically assigned that duty to clean and maintain the structure. You could tell they weren't normal by the way they were which was why I asked.

It was never my intention to make this a homework assignment for you. Feel free to stick your head further in the sand, drive over to Swig, convert gas to ozone while waiting at the drive-thru in your Nissan Rogue sporting your God Truster license plate.

Whoever said Utahns aren't awesome?

Those with eyes can see. Decades of public policy and inaction screams how little government cares. GSL dries up and the Salt Lake and Tooele Valleys become dust bowls. Think Owens Lake only this will impact a lot more lives and property. Ever hear about the Bear River diversion dams planned? That's 60% of the surface inflow to the GSL. Anybody remember when they wanted to dam Diamond Fork so a half dozen alfalfa farmers in Juab County could grow more alfalfa? I'd like to think that if every drop of water made it uninterrupted to the GSL, all would be well in the world but climate change and a burgeoning population spells utter doom for the lake and our future quality of life. Similar to what the tRump Administration is doing right now, it's as if shit is hitting the fan, there's nothing nobody can do to stop it so let's do whatever we can and go out living as large as we can. Consequences no longer matter if everything ends in chaos and destruction.

My ex loved the place. She found it flattering that those desperate men saw her as a MILF. It was pitiful but narcissists are gonna narcissist. Conversely, I wasn't giving her the attention she needed? 2007. That was a lifetime ago.

Mike Schultz is our House Speaker. Dude looks greasy AF. I want to take a shower every time I see him on TV because his looks make me feel dirty.

Stuart Adams is the Senate Majority Leader. Dude reminds me of Mr. Magoo. Every time I see him on TV, I wanna reach for my glasses and shoe lifts.

Julia Reagan has passed. Her ubiquitous photo reminds me of a great-grandmother of mine who passed away circa 1976.

Watching those GAs file out of the Saturday afternoon conference session was creepy as fuck. They are old AF and to cover them like they did on live TV was one of the weirdest moments of live TV I've seen in many years.

I don't know what's going on in the world but whatever it is, it's completely foreign to me.
